USA's turn! I was disappointed. This episode was nothing but a slow burn set up for Part 2. The Angels two parter threw you right into the party but this one trapsed around an empty village for 45 minutes before showing anything cool. Can't wait for part 2 though!
I enjoyed the episode quite a bit. I thought the gradual build-up, from the unknown, to the Doctor's suspicions, then to the reveal, was quite effective. The stalking of the boy in the cemetary was creepy, and I liked how Rory was pulled away on his own for a brief side-story, which was of course related to what was happening with the Doctor. And while they explained why Amy was wearing those short-shorts, if she was dressing for Rio, shouldn't she have been wearing a bikini? I also really liked Nazreen (where have I seen her before? Jekyll?), and got a nice companion vibe from her when she was inside the TARDIS. While the backswept skull was reminiscent of Jem'Hadar, I was getting more of a Tosk vibe from the coloring and the crouch. In any case, really good make-up/prosthetics.
BTW what do people think of Rory? I find him insufferably boring and lament every episode he appears in. I was hoping after "Amy's Choice" he wouldn't be around every episode anymore. He just feels like a dragging third wheel raining on the Doctor and Amy's fun.
Agreed, I don't get the hate for Rory hes the normal bloke the series needs now and again. Amy is more grounded around him because around the Doctor she feels like shes a young girl living her own fantasy life.
I didn't care for him much in "Amy's Choice" or "Vampires of Venice", but I thought he'd improved much in "Hungry Earth"/"Cold Blood". He was actually somewhat useful and much less whiny.
Wait until you catch what Rory does in "Vincent and the Doctor!" You're a pure hater if you don't like him after that! Um ... should I have put spoiler tags around that?
