I heard the news today. Does anyone else think "The Day of the Doctor" is a shit name? Isn't the most exciting name of the bunch.
Day of the Daleks Day of the Dead Day of the Triffids Day of the Jackal. All fairly exciting films or episodes if you ask me.
Day of the Doctor doesn't quite work so well though. Everyone I've told the title have also thought it sounds dull.
^Yes, that would've been good too. Or some variation on it. But realistically, most people will just refer to this as The Anniversary Special. Anyway, how many episodes have had really cool names but gone on not to be particularly entertaining?
I really think its meant to be a pun. Given that its released in 23rd of November, the day of the show's premiere and all. And The Forgotten Doctor sounds fine, but what if the Doctor Hurt isn't a Doctor?
The BBC have put a modified version of the original article back up Now mentions some additional programming on CBBC and Blue Peter, plus a Monsters and Villains weekend on BBC3!
While it was a paradox with the words traveling endlessly round and round in time, I'm guessing that it will turn out to have originally referred to Hurt-Doc.
If that were the case, wouldn't the Eccleston-Nine have recognized those words? Ten does because of how they, well, influenced his regeneration.
As far as the 75 minute length vs. classic series multi-Doctor episodes, those classic eps could do quite a lot of dragging on. If they pack a lot of action into 75 minutes, it'll be good enough.
So, the BBC announced a BBC4 repeat of "An Unearthly Child" as part of the 50th-anniversary celebrations. Err, not so fast. It's only tentative due to unnamed issues with one of the four episodes.
On the other hand, many newer DW stories seem to rush by too fast with too much jammed in! Seems like you jump from the setup to the conclusion without much plot inbetween! A little more time would give these stories room to breathe! 90 minutes would've been ideal. Mr Awe
Annoyingly there have been several 2 parters in the new series that have seemed padded, and just as many single episodes that could have done with being a bit longer. Plenty of the one hour specials have seemed overlong IMO, so I think 75 mins may be a good compromise, but until we see it/know the story who can tell, it might still feel padded at 75 minutes for all we know currently.
