That's right, there will be a Valentine's Day Extravaganza this year after all. While Kestra is taking a well deserved break from running the Extravaganza this year (and once again we thank her for all her hard work over the previous years ) Darth Duck and I will be running the show this year. For those of you unfamiliar with our Valentine's Day Extravaganza, the idea is that on your behalf we send virtual flowers and a note (if you wish; there's no need to include one) to another TBBS board member. It could be someone you admire, someone you appreciate as a friend, or even someone on whom you have a crush. Your message can be anonymous if you wish; just let us know. We've had a lot of fun with this in the past, and we hope to keep up that tradition. So, here are the all-important rules: PM either me or Darth Duck (though not both of us, please, to help avoid duplication) by the midnight on the 12th GMT, and on the 14th we'll send your choice of "flowers" with or without a note to the person or people of your choosing. Please provide the following: a. Their username. b. What color of (digital) flowers to send them. Choose from: red (love), white (admiration), yellow (friendship), pink (crush) c. A note from you (if you wish). d. Whether you'd like us to include your username or stay anonymous. Feel free to send multiple flowers but please try not to go overboard since it's two newbies in different time zones trying to organise it all! We kept the limit at five per sender last year, so that's what we'll do again this year. If you're on the fence about participating, we really do encourage you to join in. It's all in good fun, and it's brought a lot of smiles to people's faces over the years. TBBS's Annual Valentine's Day Extravaganza: the non-consumerist, calorie-free alternative to chocolates and real flowers.
Now I understand the stress of trying to limit myself to five. Maybe I'll just send one to the boyfriend instead. :/
That's pretty cool of you two! Thank you!!!! (ETA: Argh! macloudt! I only just had a closer look at your new avatar. Now it'll take weeks till I get the Jewel Aria out of my head again! :d )
My job here is done. I love Tintin, or Kuifje, as he's known in the Netherlands. My brothers had a lot of the books, so they're a part of my childhood.
I love Tintin as well. My favourite book is The Seven Crystal Balls, which was genuinely unnerving as a child. The Canadians did a decent cartoon of it in the 90s, have you seen it? It takes out some of the more adult references, but it really looks the part.
Yeah, they dropped the boozing, some of the ranting, and Tintin's gun. Still though, it's an improvement on the old cartoon. I liked the new movie as well.
