Smallville: Season 11 #41 wasn't a half bad read! Sure it had Lana Lang in it but just barely! The focus was squarely on Lois and no one writes Lois as well as Bryan Q! It's all kinds of fun how complete strangers walk up to Lois and ask her what Superman's "really" like. She knows she isn't the star of the show but manages to make herself the center of attention like nobody else! As for Lana Lang. Brief appearance but she saves Lois' life so I'm not gonna say anything nasty about her... THIS WEEK! :D

Well looks like I spoke too soon, I forget who first brought up if we would see Doomsday again...but tho and behold...as part of the July solicits...Doomsday is returning for the conclusion of the "Argo" story line which also features the return of Kara, Booster, and the Legion of Superheroes. Miller...the glorious bastard strikes again!! Looks like "Argo" will be collected print issue number #15.

That would be me. I don't know, it just felt like a logical thing, an extension of the story we've been seeing.

Speaking of which, I'm still seeing it several issue behind the rest of you. Just finished reading #38, which I enjoyed, though I would've liked to have seen just a bit more of the Earth-2 stuff and the other Chloe. But all in all, an enjoyable read.

    So Lana's back, eh?

Trust in Bryan Q. Miller. Not only is he writing a Smallville comic that's way better than the show ever was, but he's also made said comic the best Superman comic DC is publishing.

Yeah, it was an awesome issue and final scene. Although Smallville Clark likely would have made Chloe's pregnancy announcement all about himself and his secret. ;)

    Seriously though, great issue.

About Lana making her debut in the comic, I seriously hoope that if she does come face-to-face with Clark, Clark can finally get the hell over here legitimately. That was always a major flaw with the show...Clark never made the voluntary decision to end things with Lana. It was only the stupid kryptonite that kept them apart. I think it was important for Clark to make that decision on his own and to stop looking at Lana like she was his perfect fairy-tale princess.

I finished the first part of Valkyrie and thought it was really good. As Admiral James Kirk indicated his ability to write Lois is incredible...he gets her character without making her obnoxious like some of the other writers tended to do. He just channels Erica perfectly.

I'm already convinced that he will handle Lana brilliantly. He has a knack for writing the characters as they should have been written while still honouring what was done in the series proper. He hasn't let me down yet so I'm very curious to see what he does with Lana in this.

Agreed. Hopefully, we won't see a return of 'Doucheville-Clark' and this storyline will firmly cement the end of the Clana relationship.

Then again, part of me worries that when he sees Lana, he'll get that dopey look on his face and be like 'Lois who?"

    I pray I'm wrong.

Miller is writing so the days of Douche Clark are over. That was really Brian and Kelly's forte it seemed. Miller has written Clark as he should be written in his first year of Superman, a hero still on his journey but slowly finally starting to find himself and realize what his place is in the world. The Superman/Batman relationship was handled brilliantly, and I've always enjoyed his friendship with Bart. Miller is positioning Clark into a spot of leadership among the superhero community...it's a slow process as he's meeting new heroes and creating allies and friends, but it's happening. I don't think Clark and Lana will interact at all in Valkyrie...maybe towards the end, but I have got the impression that this is a Lois and Lana adventure or aka "time to catch up with Kryptonite Woman!!!". As those of you know I absolutely hate what was done with Lana when they wrote out Kristin so I've been curious to see how Miller will handle her.

If Miller had been showrunner this series would have reached its potential.

They were just following in the footsteps of Miles and Alfred. ;)

I definitely can see that. It's a shame really, that he couldn't have taken over the show's direction in, say, Season 5. It's one of those roads not taken, but it would've been interesting to see how differently the show might've turned out.

Pro, Season 5? Surely you jest. ;) Smallville jumped off the tracks and straight into Loonytown in Season 4.

How much time did they waste on that Lana witch storyline and did it ever really go anywhere? It was clearly tacked on to the season to give Kristen something to do but they never found a way for it to pay off.

What did it have to do with quest for the Fortress of Solitude? That was clearly what the season wanted to be about?

What about Jane Seymour and Jensen Ackles' characters? The show didn't justify their existence until they introduced the whole Traveler mythos to the backstory. Up until then Seymour and Ackles' characters were completely pointless.

The only good thing about Season 4 was bringing in Erica. Everything else was a damn waste.

But imagine if Bryan Q had been writing it... ;)

Damn, you're right - I forgot how bad Season 4 really was!

Shit, it's actually a shame that BQM didn't just write the show from the very beginning. Who knows, if he had, I think that the story would've progressed towards real Superman territory a LOT sooner than it did.

Well to be fair, Miller wasn't a full time staff writer until season eight. He started on the series in season five as an unpaid intern and worked his way up. I believe when "Smallville" finally concluded, he was an Executive Story Editor. It was also through "Smallville" that he met Geoff Johns which is how he got his current gig in DC Comics. So the man has risen through the ranks to get where he is now.

"Argo" started today. Haven't had a chance to read it yet, but will give my thoughts tomorrow.

Edit: I had time to read it tonight...and loved it. The Lois and Clark shower scenes were fun. Lois had something from Ferris Air (looked like a cheque, but don't think it was, I assume she gets this from her adventures with Lana). A nice surprise cameo from Blue Beetle, and Micheal's stolen Legion ring calls back the user, he attempts to find out what it means from Clark, and they get both pulled back to the future...discovering a crumbling Metropolis....while poor Skeets gets left behind. This keeps getting better and better.

It was a good ish. All setup. The innuendo on the Lois/Clark show scene was great. For a second I thought I got lucky and the book was taking a turn for the porno. :D It didn't turn out that way but it was a thrilling three seconds.

The Booster/Beetle stuff was alright. I haven't seen the episodes they appeared in for a while so I had a hard time recalling their Smallville history. The cliffhanger with Clark and Booster in a post-apocalyptic future was really kewl but... It implies that Earth survives the Crisis which bums me out some. Gimme some doubt even though there is none. ;) That's not really a complaint though. I have the same issue with mainstream DC too. You just know the world isn't going to end because of the Legion's future history.

Both are retainer by Ted Kord as was mentioned in the episode. Also Bryan Q has stated/implied that the Legion stuff will be touching on Geoff Johns/Greg Ruka/James Robinson's "New Krypton" storyline and of course the July solicits teased the return of Doomsday whom I assume has since resumed his path of destruction some point in the future.

Also we don't know if this factors into the Crisis or not. Since the Legion is involved now, no doubt there will be timey wimey things going on and Brainy will no doubt mention the Crisis :) Perhaps this is a Crisis of sorts for the Legion? ;) LONG LIVE THE LEGION!

You mean we don't get a view of Lois' silicon-enhanced ta-tas?
