I see on Christmas Day that Syfy is marathoning the unofficial K-9 series. I know it's unofficial and maybe not the best but it might make for curiosity viewing while waiting for the Christmas series.
While I was flipping around the dial yesterday I came across K9 on BBC Kids here. Looked largely forgettable and didn't bother watching much.
I never got further than the pilot episode. I just didn't have enough interest beyond that. I doubt I'll be tuning in to the marathon.
Watching the trailer alone killed off any interest I had in the show. Looked far too goofy and disconnected from the K-9 we all know and love.
I thought it was interesting counter-programming. It has to be a response to BBCA and Who because it's not a very typical program for Syfy, especially these days.
Saw it all. Took at least 10 episodes till I became invested and the strange future world began to be explained. Enjoyed the love triangles, and the final battle was a bit of a laugh. It's not awful. This is supposed to be the further adventures of the original K9 who we last saw went to Gallifrey with Leela.
I have been curious to see this. I'll probably watch some and DVR the rest for later. I can't say I like the "regenerated" K-9 design, but it is John Leeson doing the voice, and that's the main draw.
I have seen the first ep. where K9 regenerates and battles the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle from outer space.
ROFLMAO! "You will know pain. You will know fear. And then you will die." That pretty much sums up my reaction to the pilot.
I knew this thing existed but never got around to seeing any of it. Found the trailer on YouTube. That's really all I needed to see. I think I get the gist of it. This show is no longer in production correct? EDIT: Here's another trailer that uses the music from the Star Trek (2009) trailer.
It's not currently in production, and it's been two and a half years since the last episode aired, but the producers are reportedly developing a second season. However, there's been no news on that since June, and apparently ratings and reviews for the first season were disappointing. So it's sort of up in the air, I guess.
Hmm, I just caught the pilot on Lovefilm. It wasn't great, the acting, the story, the new K-9 were all bleurgh. But the accents were truly awfull. They are some of the worst British accents I have heard. If the cast is British then they are putting on appalling accents for the overseas market.
