I think you're conflating the female Klingon officer that exited the turbolift in Riker's view with the male Ferengi that was at the helm.

I remember a Cardassian helmsman, or was that in the Parallels episode?

Well, there was a Cardassian officer in "Parallels", and "Future Imperfect" had a (male) Ferengi officer, and a female Klingon officer, but whomever was at the helm, there was definitely no female Ferengi officer in that episode.

Who cares about what aliens appeared in that episode.

It was obviously a fake future and has no bearing on what takes place during the real present time of TNG.

It's only important insofar as it's important to keep our facts straight.

Ro sported a command color head band for quite some time as well. I never saw anyone else wearing one of those

    Oh, good catch.

Obviously, Beverly also sported a blue lab coat.

B'Elanna had a gold engineering jacket, with pockets for her tools or spanners or whatnot (and to hide her prego belly).

Picard's Captains vest and Captains jacket (sweet suede) are presumably for Captains only, but never discussed on screen.

Captain Sisko wore the waistcoat in a couple of episodes of DS9 as well.

I think a big part of the difference is the color. The season 1 version has a much more greenish tint.

Having just watched the Voyager episode of Learning Curve last night, a female Marquis member did that exact thing and Tuvok made her remove it. Same with a Bajoran kid and his earring. I think the Enterprise was just super-lax with what the crew were allowed to wear.

Uniform adornments are probably a privilege that is earned. Tuvok's misfits in training were probably stripped of privileges like that for the duration of training.

Starfleet doesn't have a uniform code. They have gang colors.

I'll be honest with you: The color's really not what I was looking at.

yeah, the fit in S1 was not flattering at all, although the S7 one was probably torturous to wear

True indeed. Not mention the fact that in the first season you also had guys walking around wearing the skant uniform as well (something to do with unisex I suppose). You didn't see that after Season 1.

if you mean the grey denim, yeah. Didn't look great at all and Marina apparently hated it. Couldn't blame her really. The blue dress from seasons 3 and 4 looked far better.

Ro was allowed to wear extra adornment's at Picard's discretion. Tuvok didn't allow the same thing because in the case of training Maquis officers he wanted to follow protocol strictly to the letter.

It's the same with Troi. Picard is the kind of Captain who cares more that everybody is working hard and doing their best job than that everybody is following protocol to the letter.

It was the '80s. That explains everything. You just have to accept it.

Oh wait, this is an ancient thread. How did this get bumped? :wtf:
