    Good official trailer from E3.
E3 2011: Pre-Alpha Footage Of Star Trek Game Released
pretty epic for a videogame about Star Trek. With the music it felt like another movie. cinematic.
I really did not like the excessive shaky-cam from the POV following the suited character 10 feet behind as he moved with an environmental suit toward the ship in space.
I know it's a videogame and like the cinema feature movies it has to be action adventure but I think overall it hurts the Trek franchise of science and the TV series of exploration and diplomacy and science-based speculative fiction.

interesting thoughts from the link above:
If you haven't seen it check out the trailer for the ME3 game also out in 2012. pretty epic.

I very much hope this won't another bug hunt like Elite Force I&II, though I did enjoy them.

I just had a geek-orgasm. Looks awesome; I love the film music; trailer pacing was great. Cannot wait! The first Trek game in years that actually looks pure, dead, brilliant. :)

I'd love to see it being Mass Effect style, I think it'd be perfect but it doesn't look that way to me. Looks closer to Gears of War.

I didn't get that out of the article at all.
Yes, Orci and Kurtzman are supervising the production but unless they aquire the rights to all things Trek and become the actual TPTB, they have no say in the matter.

They wrote the ST XI prequel comics too and that didn't automatically make them canon.

regarding the game footage: Looks awesome!

Awwwwhellyeah. Is this a PS3 exclusive? Because if so I might have to finally buy one just for this game.

it'd be insane for them to put it on single platform, unless Sony paid them big moolah

Is it going to come out ala ME.

With a website and updates on it?

Pretty sure it's going to be multiplatform according to an earlier post.

That would be the logical choice considering the large appeal of the game.

It's not just that, larger-scale modern games like this cost so much to produce it makes no sense for a 3rd party to be single platform unless the cost to port is prohibitive or the platform owner is giving them a monetary incentive for exclusivity; even that is likely to be time-limited.

Ew. I hope this game flops. No need to destroy the legacy of Star Trek, along with Kirk and Spock, any more than J.J. Abrams has already done. The sooner Star Trek stops earning money, the more likely Star Trek will be remembered as actually having intellectual and inspirational content.

You can bury Star Trek right now and never look back.

We can both have it our way.

I'll assume this isn't irony just for fun.

It's a game, how is this "destroying the legacy" any more than say Sega's 198x arcade game where all you did was blow up Klingons and Nomad over and over again?
