That was my fault. I was taking a quick run through the forum when I saw the two threads. I meant to change the thread title, for the same reason, and just forgot to on my way out.

This is not unexpected, but very sad. Imagine everything that was in this guy's head: All the people, the experiences, the history, the stories, the movies-- a whole universe in there. He left a lot behind for us, but the essence of it all is gone. He was a one-of-a-kind person who led a one-of-a-kind life. There will never be another.

I think it was last year, or maybe the year before, that I heard him interviewed by Chase Masterson on an Internet Radio Program; it was so heartwarming to hear his pleasant reminiscences, yet so sad to hear him sound so old. :(

    RIP, Forry. :(

Considerng how badly his health was failing, I'm almost glad he's finally passed on. For his sake. Forry was uniquely wonderful, and the world is more than a little darker without him, now.

I thought the exact same thing.

It still kinda freaks me out that there are people who post on here who were born after I moved into my first house. That feels like yesterday and those people shouldn't be old enough to string a sentence together.

Actually, judging by some of the comments here, that makes a lot of sense.

I can remember reading about Forrest in mainstream publications like People and TV Guide back when nothing in scifi ever got mentioned. A legend has passed....

He will be missed wand was a great pioneer. The best quote I read about his passing was, "Forry Ackerman died at age 11. He was 11 for 81 years. --Don Webb and John Joseph Adams

Mr. Ackerman lived as we all should, never losing the childlike wonder that makes life so full of wonder.

I always enjoyed meeting and talking with Forry when we were at the same cons. Damn.

It's one of those things -- I always expected he'd be around forever, so haven't gotten around to dropping him that "how the hell have you been" notes. Now it's too late.

I'm going to miss Forry. He was a helluva cool guy, very generous with his time and information, and a wonderful person to know.

Folks, please -- if there is anyone in your life you've put on the back burner, take this holiday season as an excuse to get in touch. Don't wake up someday to find that someone you cared for has passed away.

Though I was raised on Fangoria, Starlog, and Cinefantastique, my father introduced me to FMOF one day and all the others seemed...inadequate. I learned so much about sci-fi and horror from FMOF, much more than I've ever learned from the Internets. Goodbye, Dr. Acula. We'll miss you. -Dan
