The mess hall actually turned up in Caretaker, in its (presumably) original form. There was an enormous replicator station where Neelix's counter would later be.

So did the D, but it was usually pushed into the wall and thought of as a couch. It was necessary for some of the quarterly "crew evaluations".

I swear to god, i've watched Voyager like seven times and there's still always something i seem to have missed (i'll keep an eye out for that during marathon number eight)

Picard's room suddenly makes me feel sorry for those fish...how many times must they have been knocked about during battle....and i'm guessing they died during some particularly heavy damage (maybe first contact)

Livingston most likely died when Deanna crashed Enterprise-D in Generations.

Spot ate the fish once the glass broke. It's only logical and explains what Spot was doing near the bridge. :p

And if you look really close, it has a bathroom. And here I thought that women had addressed the problems with potty parity in just the last few years.

And just so you all know, Voyager's mess hall is Enterprise's Ten Forward. They didn't even change the doors.

No, but they turned Guinan's windows upside-down and gave them to Janeway's ready room ;)

Well that's hardly the only time they recycled a set for another purpose. :p

It's just that every time I see that RR, I imagine Wesley and Guinan standing on the ceiling watching the jump to warp like they did in The Child.

Like I said in the first place it had nothing to do with who was or wasn't worthy and everything to do with holding down production costs. Voyager and The Next Generation shared the same permanent sound stages, whether the sets were completely reconstructed or simply redressed those sets had to fit in the same spaces. If you look at the blue prints for Paramount stages 8, and 9 you will realize that both bridges were built in the same space, all the corridors were built or redressed in the same space, engineering sets for both series shared the same dimensions. Enterprise D's bridge set is roughly the same size of Voyager's and yet on screen Enterprise's looks bigger and they achieved this by knowing how to use color and lighting.

Here is the sight that shows which Paramount sound stages were used to film all the Trek series and movies, the most important ones have actual scale drawings of how those stages were laid out. It's pretty interesting stuff.

Sorry to bump an old thread… I was just wondering if anybody else thinks that the table in Janeways conference room is shaped like the USS defiant?

First of all, welcome to the board.

Are you talking about this table?

I'd say the table is more comparable to a Neo-Constitution saucer.

Ah, it’s not exact, but the main shape of it is
it’s the same basic Horseshoe shape. Minus a few protuberances… and nacelles. Even in your comparison pics, it still looks a lot like the defiant.

    thanks.

I don't think that the ready room was special designed for Janeway or a female captain.

The ship was probably built long before it was decided that Janeway should be its first captain.
I guess it has more to do that it was a more modern ship with more modern design than Picard's first Enterprise.

Since we're letting this topic live, I think it sort of resembles the symbol of the Cardassian Union.
