I don't understand in Star Trek: Into Darkness - if they could launch Kirk and Harrison out into space through an auxilary port, even when the Enterprise was completely crippled, why couldn't they launch an emergency communication probe to let Earth know what was happening near the moon? It's not like the enemy ship was in any condition to block a probe or emergency beacon from reaching Earth...
Are they going to take Kirk's word, or that of the commander of Starfleet? Marcus even told Kirk what the official story would be - that he was forced to hunt Kirk down, who was in league with John Harrison.
Yep. And Marcus would have people positioned to get that message out ahead of anything Kirk could say.
All the 72 torpedoes going off together damaged the Vengeance only slightly. It was still in better shape than the Enterprise, being able to manoeuvre to San Francisco and all. And that was the best arsenal they had. They couldn't fire. Spock said as much. I guess Kirk could've pulled a Janeway, and fired the torpedoes manually, but dying from it. I am not sure what the reaction would have been if Spock screamed Marcuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus! and aligned with Khan out of rage.
Heck, for all we know Marcus's people started portraying Kirk as a rogue element trying to start a war with the Klingons the minute the E left for Kronos.
