    Hi,

as english is not my mother language, can someone tell me why
Dogget Pennsatucky cut her hair short? Boo has to do with it, that far i got it. Also i don't got, why Boo did sell Red out.

Was ist just my impression that the writers changed the character of
Healy into "nice guy"? In first season he was just a dick, being stupid to lesbians.... Also they made him single :wtf: where should this heading toward? I mean, as far he already learned russian, maybe he don't want to wast that. And Red told that she does not find her husband that much exiting.
    :guffaw:

I hope not, by all means.

For me it was the other way around. The first part of season 1 was pretty scary and intense because of what Piper was going through, then as she settled in and the other characters seemed more likeable, that's when the levity came in. A lot of the actual humor seems to come from the prison staff while pretty much everything to do with the inmates is played straight. It might be done this way to highlight the need for prison reform.

Just finished the second season last night too. It was more of a satisfying ending than a nail-biter like last season's finale was.

A few more bits and bites...

    - We were led to believe that Laura Prepon was leaving the show, but instead, Alex left prison and what resulted was a pretty compelling arc.

    - I was thinking about how Taylor Schilling managed to get the lead in two TV shows and become the love interest in a Zac Efron movie without much of a resumé. Did she have "it"? Then along comes her angry spiel to Larry and Polly when they came to the prison and saw how great an actress she is.

    - There were a lot of great performances on the show, especially from Uzo Aduba in the finale.

    - I liked seeing Fig's life get some fleshing out and can't wait to see what's in store for her next season.

    - Still no warden in sight, which is actually pretty funny.

    - I don't see how they can bring back Pornstache, but I suspect that they will somehow. We've seen a lot of instances where it looked like a character was in enough trouble to be on their way out only to have a plot development bring them back from the precipice.

I really like the way (Two episodes into season 2) they are writing Tasha. She's portrayed as somebody who would have advanced degrees and a six figure job by now if she was born to parents with money, and could still get there if she just got a little of the right training.

I also like the way they're diluted the main character-ness of Piper, so now we can have entire arcs at Litchfield that don't involve her at all.

Not a spoiler: Healy is still married to the Russian lady, we saw him talking to her and her friend in their kitchen.

The rest may be a spoiler so...

They do show he's still a "bad guy", but they show through his counseling sessions why he's a bad guy. The years in the prison system have beaten the goodness out of him and turned him into a cynic.

He's trying to rediscover why he went into the business of prison counseling in the first place.

He's still "stupid" towards lesbians in his treatment of the Boo/Doggett relationship and his initial desire to refuse Piper when she asked about adding Alex to her call list.

Doggett cut her hair to join the new "gay agenda" since Healy and Boo led her to believe they are taking over the world. Doggett doesn't have anyone since her buddies turned her out. Boo is just a port in the storm, and being a rising leader within the "Gay Agenda" another way to make her feel important.

Of course, despite joining the "Gay Agenda" Doggett already told us/Healy that she doesn't plan on partaking of the sexuality available with the agenda. ;)

Red may have buried her sexual desire for her hubby under years of abstinance. She certainly loves him enough to worry about him and to send Piper on the N train to Queens to check on him.

I too liked how this season ended... a very "kismet" quality. :)

Having Alex leave the prison was inspiring. It left Piper to rely on other people/no one else to distract her from her fate. It opened up the story so we could see into the crimes she and Alex committed and how they are still resonating today with Kubra's people stalking Alex. It also gives us the option for more violence / stress in season 3 in case Kubra sends operatives into the prison to kill them.

Uzo was great as always, but the person/character that really grabbed my attention this season was Poussey. She broke my heart 7 different ways as she watched her friend be seduced by the dark side, then watched Taystee walk away from the family they had become, then fall back into her dependance on alcohol (without her own "Gina" to trail after her and keep her honest, she lost her sobriety quickly), then watch her fight over and over with Taystee until Taystee was herself abandoned and came to her senses.

I think we'll see Fig and spouse occasionally next season since that reporter isn't going anywhere and he still has a story to file.

I suspect we'll see Pornstache again at his trial, and Daya will have to testify.

I think they mentioned how the Warden was over at the main/male (?) jail, the one that sent the old riot gear when they got the new stuff.

I don't see a good endgame for the entire Dala thing. Yes Pornstash will end up ion jail for what he did, but that can't happen with a paternity test if he has good lawyers. That test will show he isn't the father and then all hell will break lose.

Season 2 episode 3: I love the little touches this show has. Like when Red is facing down the new character, the music playing is reminiscent of the music from right before the final shootout in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

It isn't fatherhood sending him to jail, its sex.

    Caputo said
TPTB let Pornstache weasel out last time because it was the guard's word against his (Caputo's). He said, He said. Funny that no one mentioned what Daya said.

The pregnancy just confirmed sex occurred. Had Pornstache kept quiet on the way out of the jail, he might have still skated when the paternity test returned negative. But since he screamed out that he loved Daya and would take care of her and the baby, its hard to now pretend he didn't have sex with her.

Yeah. However had he said nothing he could force the test and prove it wasn't him.

Edit: Finished season 2. Lots of good stuff in there. Now I wait for season 3 of House of Cards...

Just finished as well... What a great season... Read up on the real Piper's story.. Ineresting the differences and correlations going on here..

The Asian activist character could do with developing.. For as deep as she was trying to be, she just came off as 2 dimensional.. Hot though.. Very hot..

The real Piper only spent 15 months in jail, so while this show is technically based on her memoirs, I see it having real legs to continue on without her.

I loved all the backstories this season. I'm usually terrible with backstories, feel like they interrupt the flow of the story and are dull, see SG:U. But Orange's are great and I'm hanging out for all the ones we didn't get and to see more of the ones we only got partially.

I want to see Boo's backstory! Boo was one of my favorites but I was shocked at her Red betrayal. I feel like some of it is because Boo wants to be the one that works the system herself. When she got sucked into the Red family she's not liking being an equal to all these women she sees herself as better than. An equal in a crowd with Red as the boss, that's just not Boo. So she realizes she can work the system by offering Vee a goldmine, she's smarter than those sheep who are just following Red's orders. She's thinking outside the box, she's a lone agent brokering deals with the opposition blah blah in this story Boo is on top. But of course it doesn't work out like that and she is left with nothing.

The more we learn about the people in this story, the more I'm shocked about what we don't know.

For instance, what did Red actually do to land in prison?

For that matter, what did Norma & Anita (the sleep apnea Italian) do because they have both been in as long (if not longer in Norma's case) as Red.

I think you are right about Boo. I don't think she wanted a mother and didn't realize that was what she was getting when she signed on with Red's crew.

It doesn't help that Red's maternal instinct includes a quick backhand if you do something stupid like whine about your girlfriend leaving (her son Vasilly sp? in the sewer tunnel) or treat the help badly (Boo at the greenhouse dinner).

Boo does expect to be at least an equal, but this lady has been queen bee for too long to entertain that possibility. :p

Unlike the other women, she didn't miss Red when she was AWOL she still had her gal pals (Nicky / Laura etc) to hang with, but once the family closed ranks against her, she realized her mistake. And hanging her white arse with the antigay black Vee was NEVER going to happen, even if she wasn't a snitch.

Boo's back story will be interesting, once they figure it out.

They had crazy eyes on Elvis Duran this morning. She sounds the same, but certainly not as crazy.

To be fair, SGU's not a very good example of that style of storytelling. Lost is a better one. Lost seems to be what popularized that style of picking one character to tell parallel stories between past and future in ways that play off each other.

I couldn't stand the Lost backstories either. But then I somehow missed the point of Lost, I spent several seasons fuming over how they failed to eat the polar bear.

I just started watching Batman: The Animated Series and there's a character called Red Claw who sounded an awful lot like Red. Same voice, same accent. I looked her up and as I suspected, she was voiced by Kate Mulgrew.

    The episode is from 1992.

    SPOILER ALERT:

I finished the season and I loved it more than the 1st season. I enjoyed all the back stories because they made me see these woman as human instead of just scenery in the background or a prop for the story.

V's storyline was real good and at first I thought she was a criminal with a heart until the big reveal that she is a crazy murdering psycho chick.

The biggest shock was the cancer lady. Even though the clues were there I did not know she actually was the Hispanic/Italian hot chick bank robber until the very end when she was driving off and she morphed from the cancer ridden bald lady into the hot Italian/hispanic chick! I was like, "OH MY GOODNESS!!!! I didn't catch on that she was the bank robber chick whose boyfriends always died when she kissed then before and after each robbery!"

Really looking forward to Season 3.

^ She did tell the kid during chemo that she robbed banks, so when I saw that first bank robbery flashback, I knew it was her even though the actress they cast didn't look like her older counterpart.

^^ And that was one of the reasons she was so upset when she thought the kid was dying... because she thought her curse (that all the men in her life died) had come to rest on him.
