^Coulda saved me a click if you'd mentioned that the press release is in Japanese. Any chance you could give a more complete translation?

Just out of curiosity, does this mean they are still gonna be filming down under? I know that was done to save a few pennies (or so I was told) but will Saban keep it up do you reckon?

Well, for what it's worth, Saban produced the first Power Rangers movie in Australia, and also shot a number of MMPR episodes there while the movie was in production. So there's precedent.

I gave up watching Power Rangers the first time when they went into space, ended up watching again around 2001, was surprised how much I enjoyed it still after 7? years of indifference, ended up spending the next few years in a string of shitty situations where TV watching wasn't an option, and have only realy started to re-kindle my taste for the show when I found my Power Ranger trading cards last week, which leads to my question of where a good place to start re-watching from would be?

and as to the early stuff and sexy actresses, check out the episode where Trini's doll comes to life

Garo would be awesome, I agree.

One problem is that it would be a real problem to adapt it for children...

Both Cutie Honey och Garo do have the advantage of the awesome Mark Musashi in the cast

Sounds like you stopped at the end of Power Rangers Turbo and skipped Power Rangers in Space. That was a mistake. PRiS was the culmination of the initial 6-year "Angel Grove saga," the climax of everything that came before. After it, they switched to doing a different team and different story every year. PRiS was the best of the initial six seasons, and its finale "Countdown to Destruction" is in many ways the franchise's finest hour. So if you missed PRiS the first time around, that's definitely where you want to start catching up.

You know, I... 'acquired' the first 6 seasons, the ones I watched as a kid, recently and... they've just sat on my drive. Unwatched. I tried to watch one or two, but not even my impressive nostalgia-drive could get me through how kiddie-silly-lame the show really sadly was. It just doesn't hold up like BTAS or Real Ghostbusters.

Still, glad to see the true owners recover such and rescue it from the clutches of the Mouse. Always a good thing. The mouse is evil.

Did you start at the beginning? The first season is pretty dreadful, with only the likeable cast to redeem it. But it gets more worthwhile later on. Try watching from the start of season 2, and if that doesn't catch your fancy, jump to season 3. Or find an episode guide and focus only on the important "arc" episodes (such as they are) in the first few seasons. Most of it was pretty disposable in the early years; later on, with a different storyline each season and fewer episodes per year, the ratio of arc to filler increased.

Ouch! Forgotten already? You were just down ther
^If you're caught up through Power Rangers in Space, then it doesn't particularly matter where you start up next since every subsequent season was pretty self-contained. But everyone seems to love RPM.

There's a lot of crappy filler in the early seasons to avoid. Like, on Season 1, you can just skip over the 1st 20 or so episodes and start with the "Green with Evil" 5-parter.

Dammit, warn me before you post a video like that. I'm in the public library!

For some reason, I completely blanked out on Jungle Fury when I made that post, but yes, I agree here.

A bit of news from the Licensing Expo. The new season will be 40 episodes long, just like the old days! Also, it will air 7 days a week. :techman:

Casting sides for potential actors to read. They mirror various Shinkenger episodes very closely

Those casting sides read like they're pretty direct translations of Shinkenger scenes, or so I'd imagine. But those might not represent what the new PR series will be like, except for the character names, perhaps. Casting sides are often different material from the actual scripts, since it's just to size up the actors' abilities, chemistry, etc.

I mean, I doubt the reference to a character being wounded and bleeding would show up in a Power Rangers episode. And some of the stuff there just seems too specific to Japanese culture.
