^ You know what they do at the CN Tower now, though? They have a thing where you can actually walk around ON THE OUTSIDE of the damn thing, tethered to it by what is basically a bungee cord.

Looks like a great time Pingfah, I'm a little envious. :p Are the echoes of the amplifiers still ringing in your head?

Thanks! I will be back in Atlanta in a few years when the Braves open up their new digs. :)

Hopefully the Athletics and Rays will soon follow suit...

    @teacake: Here you go. :D

Our local Zoo had this Penguin Palooza event tonight. You get to see the Penguins being fed and a whole bunch of other things. It was pretty awesome, had a great time with the kids.

    You mean this glass floor?

 (That was from five years ago, when my ex - who lives in Atlanta - came up for a visit.)

And I only just realized what T-shirt I'd worn that day - the choice wasn't deliberate, but it's funny in retrospect. (It shows a mountain range, with the letters "AAAAAAAAA!" going down, and the caption reads, "Jack and Jill in the Himalayas.")

Yeah, I have a friend who's done that, and intends to do it again. They call it the EdgeWalk. Lying down on a glass floor that's rated to withstand the weight of several elephants is one thing, going out on the outdoor observation deck is one thing, but going outside, with nothing to prevent you from falling except a bungee cord? You'd have to pay me about a trillion dollars to get me to do that.

And I have a height problem too, but it's mostly with unstable heights like ladders. Though I admit to getting a little nervous when I'm out on the balcony on the 21st floor of the Hyatt in Atlanta, but that's because there's nothing between me and the edge, above the outer wall which is only about four feet high. At least the outdoor observation deck of the CN Tower has a metal screen.

Yeah, the whole thing was brilliant, and an absolute baptism of fire for me with the whole solo biking/travelling thing, which was kind of the point.

I'm sad it's all over now, although you know they have gotten the volume under control at gigs now. 20 years ago, I used to walk away with ringing ears, not anymore.

Or maybe it's still just as loud, I just can't hear it any more. Who knows...

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary this weekend, first by spending the weekend in Milwaukee, and then instead of going back home we decided to spend a night in Chicago. I'm still processing photos from both cities, but here's one of my early favorites: Tribune Tower in Chicago, as seen from the Chicago River.

^Wow. Great shots; I especially like that first one.

I hate to post my crappy snapshots after that, but, here goes. Spent a few, long days with the niece doing touristy stuff around town. Here are some shots of NASA and the Fine Arts Museum

Bots. I thought this one looked a bit like Iron Man

This was still tucked away in a corner of the Space Center, so I had to run over and get a picture.

Very cool art instilation at HMFA. It's tons of long plastic/rubbery tubes hanging and you get to walk right through them. Feels more like swimming. Niece thought it was all kinds of awesome.

And, of course, the funky light tunnel, which all the kids love
