I'm trying to figure out which Loki Journey into Mystery trade I'm supposed to buy first: is it the Fear Itself volume? Amazon's listings seem to imply that.

I read IncHulk #8 last night and I did indeed enjoy the issue. The Punisher crossover works because the Hulk we have now is one in control and can think and reason. Not the raging unthinking version where a Punisher crossover like this one is plotted couldn't have worked without some serious  .

Is this Pit Bulls first appearance?

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

That is correct. Little Loki himself first appeared in the Mighty Thor arc "The World Eaters "written by Matt Fraction, but the Fear Itself trade is the begining of his solo tales (But don't worry, JiM tells the story much better than FI itself did). But, while the Loki bits were by far the best part of TWE, "The World Eaters" as whole was pretty bad.

Apparently Loki played a big part in the recently completed Tanarus arc in Thor, and as that seems to be getting better reviews than TWE did. As a fan of little Loki, I might pick up the trade when it's released.

One thing that kind of irks me-- I recommend JiM to anyone who will listen, and one of the selling points I use is that it's a $2.99 book. But now, it's soon to enter a nine-issue crossover with The Mighty Thor-- which is a $3.99 book. So much for that selling point...

Thanks for the confirmation, Turtletrekker. JiM, I hope, is going to fill the "here's an odd corner of a shared universe" hole that Secret Six used to fill. I have the World Eaters and it was ... not terrible, but lacking something. It would have been a two-issue filler arc when Simonson was writing Thor.

So I was wondering what everyone's current favorite Marvel books are right now? I know a few of you have mentioned them in the New 52 thread, but thought it might be fun to state them in here as well. Here are my top ten right now in no particular order:

    -Amazing Spider-Man
    -Wolverine and the X-Men
    -Fantastic Four
    -FF
    -The Incredible Hulk
    -Ultimate Comics Spider-Man
    -Scarlet Spider
    -Winter Soldier
    -X-Men: Legacy
    -Daredevil (knew I forgot one!)

    Daredevil, hands down.

I'm trying Avengers Assembled since it looks to be the place where Marvel Cosmic is going again. It's okay, but if it weren't for the return of characters I love, I wouldn't be buying it.

I tried the first TPB of Fantastic Four by Hickman and enjoyed it. Money is preventing me from buying the rest of his run right now.

    Regarding Journey into Mystery:

I see that its first nine issues were part of the "Fear Itself" crossover and its next three were bannered under "Shattered Heroes." If I were interested in giving the series a try, would I need anything outside of JiM itself in order to understand its issues under those banners?

No, you can read JiM by itself without the main FI event. The story in JiM runs alongside FI and is certainly influenced by its events, but it is its own complete take on the tale.

    1. Avengers vs. X-Men (what can I say? it's a big event)
    2. Avengers
    3. New Avengers
    4. Amazing Spider-Man (particularly the epics like Spider-Island and Ends of the Earth!)
    5. Fantastic Four (the Mad Celestials storyline was epic!)
    6. Avengers Academy (like the new larger cast)
    7. Wolverine & X-Men (great art, the only fun X book)
    8. Ultimates (Hickman is running an interesting story)
    9. Iron Man (picking up with the Mandarin's master plan)
    10. Thunderbolts (been getting progressively less interesting the past year)

If we are counting as-yet uncompleted minis, then there is Johnathon Hickman's SHIELD mini which just dropped of the face of the Earth. Two issues to go and...?

As for future known Marvel projects...I'm psyched for Captain Marvel (Carol!!!!) and Bendis (yes I am excited for a Bendis project)'s Spider-Men.

The final issues are still happening. Just delayed while Hickman has been working on other stuff.

The Marvel Civil War prose novelization comes out Wed as well...there are a couple of reviews on Amazon already for it. Including one post that lists a lot of changes for the novel...both likes and dislikes the reviewer had. Overall he gave it a positive review despite the amount of changes. I'll still be checking it out but from the looks of the changes listed in the post...I'm not sure I'll like it.

I'll have to remember to look for it. I thought it wasn't coming out until closer to the end of the year.

Nope. It always always scheduled for a June or July release I believe. There are other books that Marvel has planned in the line though that haven't been announced yet. Civil War is just the first one.
