Just flicked it on now. It's in 4:3.

Watching it for the seventeenth trillion time :D

    Looks great.

More or less. It's slightly wider (and cropped) compared to the Bluray version. Maybe about 1cm difference each side on my 32" screen.

If my math is right*, (and assuming you are in a 1:1 mode on both of your inputs) that would make it about 1.38:1 aspect ratio... which seems like a completely unnecessary alteration.

    * This assumes your HDTV dimensions are approx. 39.624 cm x 70.358 cm.

Wow, I wonder why they aren't airing in widescreen?

The implication is that CBS never made widescreen versions -- for all the reasons put forth in the Energized! doc on disc one of Season One. :)

Oh my god it's really glistening. Can't believe how slick it looks now. It's more than enough reason to start watching for the eight millionth time anyway.

The only annoying thing is I notice more these days with stuff like TND HD and whatever is that I should wear my glasses at home more. ;)

I caught a bit of it too, and if anything i'd say the contrast was off. The darks looked pitch black. There was no detail at all in Picard's face in the opening shot, and no detail in the dark areas of the ship in the saucer section scene.

Apart from that, the ratio was 4:3. I imagine they're simply using the blu rays to play them.

Why is Syfy UK skipping episodes?
    So it's going to be 1-4, 11, 6?

    Seems pretty random...

    :wtf:

Is it anything to do with airdate order vs. production order? I agree it's confusing.

That's exactly it -- production order. The Blu-rays are in airdate order. This means new viewers might see Tasha die, then come back to life in the next episode with no explanation!

I wonder if Syfy are airing TNG-R that way because of some kind of agreement with CBS, or that it is what they think the fanboys want, or that they are doing it for shit and giggles?:rommie:

Not sure what the motive is... but looking at their website, they seem to be aware of the correct episode order, yet they do seem to be headed toward showing "Skin of Evil" before "Symbiosis":

Schedule information isn't available for December 5th onward... maybe in another day or two.

Oh good. Another mystery solved. :D

As for Skin of Evil airing before Symbiosis, I always love the little wave Denise Crosby gave in the background in her real final scene.

And also, it's not like I haven't seen the episodes several times; I know what's going on, even in the wrong order.

And also, I've got TNG HD on Sky+, so I record them and watch them in whatever order I see fit.

    ;)

As far as I can tell, it's not that they're skipping episodes, rather there's something very wrong with the meta data that the TV guide gives.

My TiVo recorded (what it said was) Haven on Friday evening, and then yesterday it recorded (what it says is) Lonely Among Us, episodes 11 and 7 respectively. I checked the recordings, and they're actually *both* The Last Outpost, which is what should have been on on Friday.

So, it does seem like they're broadcasting them in the correct order, just with the wrong details. For anyone with a Series Link (particularly on TiVo), this may well mean it catches the same episodes multiple times, and misses others, so it might be worth setting them all manually - I noticed that TiVo had already cancelled the recording for this Friday and next Monday, as it thinks both of those are Haven again.

    Hope that helps people!

Well, glad I'm not the only one confused with the episode order.

I think Syfy are the ones who are confused!
