It's like the Spider-man nailpolish tie-in in some regards.
A little over reaching in the product tie-ins.
Will women really be seeking out TASM themed nail polish?
Will anyone I know really be looking for a scent inspired by Hulk or Thor?

You do know that back in the 60s, during the height of Bondmania, there was a 007 cologne?

    This is really nothing new.

    ^^^
    Not really frequent either.
One could make a case a Bond fragrance is a more natural tie-in.
    Avengers, not really.
    You get the difference, right?

I haven't watched it since the theaters but I bought "The Hulk" on Blu-Ray today in preparation for The Avengers. I will likely have a marathon of all of the Marvel/Avengers movies before going to see "The Avengers." So a nice marathon of Captain America, The Hulk, Iron Man 1/2, and Thor.

You bought THE INCREDIBLE HULK though, right? Not the crappy Ang Lee flick.

Oh, gods no. I would never get the Ang Lee Hulk, I'd sooner kick myself in the nuts. Yes, I got The Incredible Hulk, the one with Edward Norton and that woman who has the screen presence of a wet paper towel.

You know, I think it's a fairly under-appreciated movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Everyone always talks about how great Iron Man was and most recently how good CA and Thor were. Iron Man 2 usually goes both ways but we rarely talk about TIH. The movie is certainly filled with flaws (the biggest one being, for me, Liv Tyler) and maybe wasn't as astounding in the wake of Iron Man and was mostly forgotten as Iron Man 2 and certainly Thor and Captain America came out but it's pretty good movie.

I think it mostly really lacks in a cohesive story and plot and maybe a bit by not just forgetting the Ang Lee movie and doing a bit more of an origin story to go along with The Avengers. I did like the use of Abomination in it and how at the end it seems clear that Banner has learned to control Hulk but without being able to really put my finger on it the movie just "lacks" something.

Liv Tyler was awesome in "The Incredible Hulk". Much better in my opinion over Jennifer Connelly (whom I'm a big fan of as well). The Ang Lee "Hulk" was okay...just not really what fans were expecting at the time. Banner was able to learn how to control Hulk to a degree at the end of the film due to his love of Betty. She was a pretty big influence in that film and helped Bruce. One of the aspects of "Avengers" I'm most looking forward to is Ruffalo's Banner (whom I've warmed up to) and how he was recruited by Shield in the first place.

Am I the only one who has a mental image of fat, sweaty Harry Knowles-lookalikes with hygiene problems buying loads of Avengers scents and, of course, never taking them out of the box because that would reduce their collectible value?

I didn't find Liv Tyler interesting ("awesome") at all in TIH. She was just... there.

    "Worst cologne, ever."

I thought the Ang Lee flick was excellent. In fact I'd go so far as to say without Ang Lee showing that a superhero film can have a degree of depth I probably wouldn't have bothered with any of the Marvel films.

I have yet to see the one starring Edward Norton; may give that a rental before seeing this since I did rent Thor and Captain America and thought they were quite entertaining. In fact the only Marvel films I've not really enjoyed are the X-Men ones - which isn't only down to not caring about the X-Men comics.

Actually while watching I noticed an increased emphasis on destruction of urban landscape and giant objects smashing things.

I know I'd find a girl super hot if she had Spider-Man nail polish!

I got Spider-Man aftershave as a Christmas present. It smelt disgusting. I think it was made for kids. Actually made me gag.

If I did it would probably dissolve my stomach or something. My girlfriend at the time thought it smelled okay

Ang Lee's hulk was way too full of itself and was trying too hard to be artsy or something. But it was mostly "okay" until the battle with Nick Nolte and stuff at the end, the the movie just got off track. But, there was too much melodramaticness and too much angst. And I don't think the comic book panel/"24 style" presentation really translated well to the big screen.

Yeah I would probably give the edge to the Ang Lee version as well, just because it got there first and gave us our first glimpse of Hulk on the big screen. It also took some chances compared to the other one which felt way too safe and predictable.

Although both movies suffer from the same major problem-- Bruce is constantly fighting not to turn into the Hulk, but the only time he (or the movie) gets remotely interesting is when he DOES.

And even then, all you're watching is the empty CG spectacle of Hulk smashing a bunch of stuff, which in fun for a little while but gets old pretty quick. At least in my book.
