Since alot of these threads seem to die...here is one that might make it. ;) Basically like the many other threads you find a song/video on Youtube and the the next poster will rate it. :bolian:

We will do a A B C D F rating people can add an (+) or (-) at their own discretion...depending on whether how much they liked it or if they took points off for what ever reason.

    Also include Liked: & Disliked:

So this is how it should look...

    Artist "Song Title"

    Grade:

    Liked:

    Disliked:

And then list your YT vid. :techman:

Here is my first vid...I have posted it before but I think it is cool. :D

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vV0bM6_TYvc

NOTE: Be mindful of geolocking and post alternatives if you think it might be locked in other countries. :bolian:

ADD: Try to pick songs that matter to you. ;)

Well, I'll go kick this off.

    Shinedown - Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom)

    Grade: C (but a high C)

Liked: It's got a good rhythm, and some good rocking. Reminds me of a more upbeat and positive 30 Seconds To Mars. Also manages to feel quite epic in places.

Disliked: Maybe not quite my genre. A little bit harder than anything I'd normally listen to.

    And there's my first vid:

I thought this would do better cause it only has people review one song instead of 3.

    Chart Music "All My Life"

    Grade: B-

Liked: Vocals, I like techno/dance music so this was pretty good.

Disliked: A bit repetitive...similar to alot of other music in it's genre. it just didn't jump out at me as being super original.

1 song is far easier to do and focus on, I agree. You don't run out of tracks as fast with this, either. Hopefully we'll get a couple of other people joining us.

Didn't expect that. I'm familiar with other Lil Wayne works, although aside from Drop The World, I prefer to stick to him as a featured artist.

    Lil Wayne - Every Girl

    Grade: D

Liked: It is a rap track, so that's good. The backing instrumental was fair enough.

Disliked: Crude lyrics. Not much of a beat either. Lil Wayne is best in small doses, I find, like on Bedrock (Young Money, which as a rap collective is great anyway), Down (Jay Sean) or I'm Into You (Jennifer Lopez). That's a good example of how to work him. His rapping style is too grating for a whole track on his own, with a very weak and crass chorus. There are far better hip-hop tracks around.

So, really, I didn't particularly like this.

Second one in case of geolocking. Neither are the official video. I wasn't going to risk that.

    Friendy Fires -Hawaiian Air.

    Grade: C+

    Liked:
It has a good pulse, and he sounds a bit like Brandon Flowers in his style, which is a good thing in my book.

Disliked: Sounded a bit strained, and a fairly average song. The singer could've done better I think.

(I did this in the last thread, but it's began to mean more and more to me as time goes on. Besides, a new thread allows for it :p)

    Friendly Fires - Hawaiian Air

    Grade: C

Liked: Sounds like 80's club music (I was in my 20's in the mid 80's) and that is sort of nostalgic for me. This band is reasonably competent and the song is fairly catchy.

Disliked: Sounds like 80's club music -after about the first minute, I've had enough of that nostalgia feel and am bored with it. Nothing really new or interesting here. Sounds like something The Thompson Twins, Tears For Fears, or Dead Or Alive could have written in the mid-80's. See for yourself:

If you want club music, why not something they didn't do in, like, 1986 :D :

Glad to see this picking up pace. I like Hawaiian Air as well. Better than Live Those Days Tonight imo, although I've only heard each on the radio a few times.

I'll do both of these here, since we've piled up:

    Snake River Conspiracy Vulcan

    Grade: B-

Liked: The instrumental is quite good actually. Surprisingly for this genre, this is quite enjoyable. The vocals when kept down, are also lovely. Has a touch of Evanescence about it at this point. although certainly not when it goes uptempo. Interesting certainly to see a female voice in this genre

Disliked: So not my genre. The screaming doesn't help, but it fades into the background a bit, so it isn't as bad as other tracks.

    Coldplay - Fix You

    Grade: A

Liked: I do love this song. You know that. Coldplay are always great. This is only their second-best though, that award goes to Viva La Vida. It is quite haunting in places, and the way it slowly canters through the song is masterfully done.

Disliked: Some of it almost feels too manufactured. That's the only thing about this song, that it is formulaically devised to put out a hit. I do love it nevertheless, but I can see that.

    My next one:

Damn. Why?? :scream: Do you think we ought to include titles of songs, so that if it happens, the poster can look for it.

    Although, decent response though.

    Porcupine Tree - Blackest Eyes

    Grade: B
    +

Liked: Very nice rocking sound, and the name of the band is good. Pleasant to listen to, really. The lead vocalist is definitely quite talented. And the bit leading into the chorus (I think?) just before the 'Blackest Eyes' bit is very well done.

Disliked: Not a whole lot really. It may have felt a bit samey at times.

    I'll try this song again.

Hopefully 3 links to the same song should be enough. Given that it doesn't give much away about the song, I'll give the name: Alex Saidac - We Shine. Love it.

    Alex Saidac "We Shine"

    Grade: C+

Liked: Kinda catchy, actually like the vocals...it was Okay.

Disliked: Nothing really popped out to me...sounds fairly typical dance/pop.

@Eyes I think just including alternative links will help...or maybe putting the info in spoiler tags...I still like to be surprised when clicking on the link.

Video: The Alarm: Three Sevens Clash

    Grade: A

Liked: Everything about it. The band. The song. I have not listened to any of their music in a long time....but I used to love this band, back in the day. This has encouraged me to go and revisit their stuff...and check out their newer material since they got back together.

Disliked: Nothing. That was really fun!

Well, not to take away from PKTrekGirl, but since she didn't actually provide a link and because I want to post in this thread and keep it going, I'll post one myself and hopefully PK will get and do her video at a later point.
