I'm curious about your use of "digitized". Digitization usually refers to the process of capturing and converting something non-digital (like NTSC video) into a digital format. Aren't you shooting on a digital camcorder? If so, I think you mean "capturing", not digitizing.

It's capturing from a Mini DV and converting it to whatever file format that Bill, Rick and Tom use for the editing, special effects, etc.

So, capturing and converting. It's already digital. :)

If you insist. :) I'm the one who also keeps getting lectured about the difference between VFX and SPFX by my own staff. I think it drives them crazy. :D

On some filming notes: we'll be filming pickups/close-ups this Saturday and doing some ADR work with Doug Harper for "Doctor's Orders."

On Saturday the 19th, we'll be filming some pickups/close-ups wit Jeff Green for "The Void," but for additional episodes as well.

On Saturday the 26th, we'll be filming "Delivery" with Jeff Green and Stephanie Burke.

None of the sessions are expected to take more than a couple of hours.

While still in post-production, the opening credits for Project: Potemkin's upcoming episode, "The Void," are now on-line. Fans will be able to see the entire regular cast as well as some of Jon Carling's excellent visual effects. You'll also be able to appreciate both Andrew Morgan Smith's Potemkin theme as well as a cue from Steve Gallant's original composition for the episode. The credits were created by Jon Carling, and editor Tom Scott brought the music together with the footage. We hope you enjoy it!

Polished and professional. Particularly enjoyed the score and Steve's final segue (is that the right term for music switching from one movement into another?).

We've just posted a good bit of production news on our website this late night. We are looking for cast members for an upcoming shoot. Take a look at the NEWS article, and let us know if you're interested!

Right now, I'm cleaning up the bridge set for tomorrow's shoot of Jeff Green's closeups and log entries. Should be a fairly quick session.

One evening next week, I intend to shoot Polim n'Ahman's scenes for "The Night the Stars Fell from the Sky" and even "Callie."

Next Saturday, the last of our early first season vignettes goes before the camera: "Delivery" starring Jeff Green and Stephanie Burke. It should be awesome.

Whew! Just finished filming the close-ups. Also shot all the upcoming captain's logs needed for the upcoming vignettes. Took 3-1/2 hours. Heck set up and break down took 1-1/2 hours of that.

^^^One of the advantages of having twenty scripts fairly locked down before starting filming. I'm sure it is to be recommended to those just starting out. From what I've read, in the early Hartnell and Troughton eras of "Dr. Who," they also did this -- filmed scenes for upcoming stories whenever sets where available, especially TARDIS control room scenes.

Well, if you're using different locations as we are in our upcoming vignettes, you certainly shouldn't be filming at location A, location B, location C, then back to A, then back to B, then back to C. Film everything at A, then B, then C. Then turn it over to the editor.

For our upcoming full-length episode, "The Night the Stars Fell from the Sky," I've planned shooting Location A, Location B, etc. all the way until Location J. I'm in the midst of breaking down the script by location and by cast. I'll be heading out this week to take still shots of the locations from the three set ups I think each location will deserve. The only time I suspect any problem will arise will be the sunlight. I want to make sure it matches in the shots.

Re: New Star Trek Fan Film

Tonight I finished repainting the control consoles, and plan on starting to put the appliques onto the stations Thursday and Friday. Bill Walker has turned in both the opening credits and closing credits for "Doctor's Orders" so we're in good shape with that episode.

Thursday, I'm hoping to film a few 2nd unit shots of Eric Moore as Lt. Cmdr. Polim n'Ahman for "The Night the Stars Fell from the Sky" and some general stock footage of him at his station.

Saturday, we're filming "Delivery" which will be awesome. Trust me, this is an sf script fans will enjoy!

Finished filming a vignette this afternoon, and took a publicity still of our captain and comm officer in their new uniforms. Be sure and check it out on the Potemkin site!

Looking forward to this one... if only Ted Cassidy was still with us to do the voice-over.

I think I was channeling him today...or was that Frank Oz?

Did you see the pic of the new uniforms?

Looks good. So now we have the standard patch over the right chest? I'm glad we have to reshoot those scenes we did a few weeks ago anyway. Now we can be sure to include the patch as well as the rank insignia pin.

BTW, what are we working on 4/16? Just wanted to get started on my lines (if any).

Yes, the chest pins looked nice. The new uniforms do, too. (We may have to tailor them a little on their length.) And yes, the rank pins pop out.

The stock footage we got of you in the older uniform is probably going to be used in "Delivery."

The script we're shooting on 4/16 with Hannah Ruiz, Richard Thornton and yourself is "Archway." We'll be shooting it at the Radium Springs Park (where the casino used to be), I'm guessing from 11am until 4pm (at the latest). We'll be using the new uniforms and chest pins for this shoot.

It's another sffy script that has some literary roots. The script should be up on SugarSync by now. Let me know if you can't access that folder.
