Almost exactly simultaneous postings of the two RIP threads, but this one must have been a few seconds earlier since the other one logged in above it on the list of topics.

    Rest in peace, Ralph Waite.

    That's sad.

I never liked the Waltons--probably because I was forced to watch it when I was a kid, but I really liked him on NCIS. He was perfect for Gibbs Sr.

    RIP

"The Waltons" is a show that most people look down on (and perhaps rightly so, later seasons were quite insipid), but the first two or three seasons were actually rather good. R.I.P. John Walton.

RIP Mr. Waite. Loved him as Gibbs' dad and a Booth's grand dad.

I was the same - to this day when I hear that music, it kinda gives me this depressive feeling. "Little House on the Prairie" is the same for me. Couldn't stand those provincial shows where life always seemed SO hard and it took all your energy simply to eke out an existence.

    I was a "Brady Bunch"/"Eight Is Enough"/"Partridge Family" kid.

We loved the Waltons growing up.

When we were on family trips, mom used to measure time by "Waltons" and "Brady Bunches" (as in: "How much longer?" "Two Waltons and a Brady Bunch.").

    RIP

I loved the Waltons, but pretty much, after Grandpa died, the show kinda jumped the shark. When I bought some of the seasons, I did 1-7 and skipped the inferior last few years.

    RIP Ralph.

    Good rest to him.

Never a Waltons fan, but he was in a great alt.history film, Timequest, with the mighty Bruce Campbell. Watch it if you haven't seen it.
