Robin Hobb is (in my opinion) the best writer in the world. She mostly writes fantasy, but also wrote a sci fi book. She also writes as Megan Lindholm.

I've been meaning to read her, what do you recommend to start with? Like the first book of the best series.

Have fun! There are a lot of attractions in the D.C. area that a little kid would probably love.

Well, I would start with Assassin's Apprentice. The Farseer books are my favorites.

And a quick search tells me we're getting a new trilogy starting in August - woo-hoo! I thought she wasn't doing any more with Fitz & the Fool. So glad she's revisiting them!

He never picked me up when I met him - he just pinched my (straight) friend's nipple. I had to take the photo. :( (Mind you, said straight friend is very hot, and at cons, tends to go around in as little clothing as is legally permissible.) And then we got into a conversation about the Chik-Fil-A controversy.

What I love most about John - besides the fact that he's incredibly handsome and has a sharp brain - is that he's an unabashed geek like us. I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but the time that he dropped trou on stage to show off his Superman underwear is indelibly burned into my brain.

I agree with Sakrysta! The assasins apprentice is the first book of the first triology. I highly recomend that you read them in the right order. Farseer Trio, Liveship Traders trio, Tawny man trio and then the dragon keepers. She's also written other series that are awesome. The Ki and Vandien quartet is just awesome. I love all her work, unfortunately there are two books I ve not been able to read yet :( Alien Earth and Cloven Hooves. Alien Earth is a sci fi book, so I really would love to read it.

I've read all her Hobb books, but none of the Lindholm stuff yet...

Not sure, it might have been. Really close to St. Ives train station, I mostly only know the names of the beaches around where I live, the East part of Cornwall.

So, without going into details, I have to lose a lot of weight for a very special project. Last August, I was 131 kg / 289 lb, I am now 111 Kg / 244 lb, and have to get down to 105 Kg / 231 lb.

Until I had my driver's license, I didn't really grasp the difference.

And please excuse the crappy photos, they are driver's license pics which are rarely good.

Australis very impressive! You must have gotten a surprise at the comparison (you should post smiling ones). Grats on that, got any tips about how you did it?
