Yes. Thank you. Those are excellent commercials, too. :techman:

While they're all excellent, the third one on the list does the best job of being a trailer, imo. You'd be hardpressed to beat Orson Welles, after all :)

They're really lovely to look at and listen to and bring out the epic best in the movie. Sadly, it remains a film I just can't get excited about.

Seeing those sent me back to when I was 17, and couldn't wait to see TMP.

Just curious, but what did you think of the movie when you were 18, after you saw TMP?

The movie had its problems, but it was Star Trek for cripe sake! Welles did a fine job narrating, it seemed he really believed the lines he was reading.

Maybe I'd have enjoyed it better if I hadn't read the novelization before seeing the film.

Let's put it this way; I saw it 6 more times at the theater (twice more than TWoK and once more the ST: 2009) . It's also the Trek film I've watched the most on video and/or DVD.

I read the novelization first, too, but that only helped me to love the movie as much as I did. My new ST friends had no idea that Will Decker was Commodore Decker's son, or the stuff about Kirk's wife, or the effect of Deltan pheromones.

"Challenge your intellect." Nice. And it did.

It was science fiction, not bad-guy-action-flick-of-the-week. Beautiful, too.

I wish we had more of the old commercials preserved. I've got two from FC, one from TVH on the computer, and somewhere amidst my huge landfill of VHS tapes I've got all the ones from Insurrection and Nemesis on low-quality recorded (I recorded everything Trek from 1997-2002 on VHS. EVERYTHING.) but... they're so interesting to me! And they really send you back.

I have a ST III teaser trailer on Super 8 that never made it to the DVD sets. It ends with a faint Spock face that superimposes on the starfield, reminiscent of the Spock face cover of the ST III soundtrack LP.

You should find a way to have it digitized. TrekCore could host if for ya. ;) lol
