I'm completing the set. I finished the Aegis Engine, and now I'm working on the Shield and Deflector array.

They updated Tribble this evening with some new DS9 interiors. Sadly they haven't dealt with the exteriors yet - but I guess that'll come when the FE is out. I threw some pics in the pic thread.

There is your flimsy excuse of why both factions suddenly have these ships.
    And it's ridiculous!
Lex suggested that the Fed's and Klingons each confiscated those ships at theend of the war which would have made a million times more sense.... but oh well... dumb retcon story works as well...not!

This would make the most sense, even considering STO's own timeline about the relationship between Cardassia; the Federation; and the Klingons:

"In 2381, a coalition of planets led by Bajor demanded that members of the Cardassian government and military stand trial for crimes against sentient beings for actions taken during the Occupation of Bajor and the Dominion War.

The Cardassian government refused any request to surrender its citizens for prosecution, so the coalition appealed to the Federation Council and the Klingon High Council to join them in seeking justice for past crimes."

"In addition to working to curb the rising hostilities between the Klingons and the Gorn, Federation diplomats were hard at work crafting a new pact between the Federation and the Cardassians.

On Stardate 63976.74, the Cardassians signed a new treaty, in which they agreed not to field a military or wage war. In exchange, the Federation agreed to provide aid to rebuild Cardassian cities and military protection in the event of an invasion of Cardassian space.

In response to the landmark agreement, the Bajoran coalition dropped its request to prosecute Cardassians for war crimes. Many among the Bajorans and Cardassians hoped that relations between their worlds would someday be normalized."

Lucky run, maybe. I've done a ton of them, and have one MK XII item to my name so far. (Ship shields, went with MACO).

Did just have a decent KA Elite space run, though. Got 4 EDCs and a Prototype Salvage piece. Unfortunately, doesn't get me any set pieces (would be nice if that was essentially a free *wildcard* set piece, in case you were having trouble getting the last drop in a set and getting sick of the same mission. Still, gets me a MK XII weapon for the ship, I guess. Haven't decided what to use it on...

Are you talking common or uncommon/rare/very rare drops? If it's common drops, I've had 3 MK XII drops in the past 2 days, just horsing around at Ker'rat.

Just curious, do you guys know of any good roleplaying fleet in STO? I just started a KDF character and I was hoping I can do some RP with it.

I think there's something about the ground mechanic that I'm just not getting.

I was doing a basic exploration mission against Rommies and I kept dying on the boss pack. After about five tries I just gave up.

After the third try, I left and spent every EC and DL I had on better gear for my BOffs and it didn't seem to help any.

I tried everything I could think of, CCs, kiting, using all my buff/def cooldowns, but I just kept getting overwhelmed by the Engineers and all their gadgets. Even when using BOff focus fire on my target, I couldn't seem to burn them down fast enough because the Medics would heal them. If I went after the medics first, the engineers would get up their gadgets and overwhelm me.

The CCs just don't seem to last long enough to be very useful. Which is strange because the ship CCs are excellent.

Look through the fleet descriptions for role-player fleets. You can also try Google as many will have their own website describing their activities. I've seen a few role-players around DS9. Hope this helps.

    What mission?

Against non-borg enemies, I target enemy Engineers first (and tell my away team to hit my target), then Science officers and Tactical Officers last. I also hit the Cmdr Engrs first and work my way down the ranks. A high level Engineer can ruin your day with all toys they can deploy. If for some reason they have a high number of Science officers or medics, hit them first to prevent them from keeping thier buddies alive. This is my strategy and it works well for me; however, your actual mileage may vary.

You may want to check if you're playing on Standard level. However, you shouldn't encounter too much difficulty even on Advanced. My daughter can even do some missions on Advanced (I helped her build her away teams).

I'm not an Elite player; but my characters progress through missions without any problems. If you tell me more details, like what char type, I'll give you suggestions on away team composition and equipment loads. Forgive me for using the term, but I strive for a synergy when building the away team. So instead of deploying 4 crack specialists each doing his own thing, I try to deploy a crack team of 4 specialists that work well together.

    Added after reading Intrinsical's post.

I didn't really get into tactics above, but one of Doc Lee's indoor tactics is to assign one BO to stay put, one on the left side and one on the right, (and one free), then run through the crowd to the back side, turn around and blast them. So him and his team are hitting the enemy on four sides.

You can also try something simple like crouch (c) and aim (x).

Outside, I look for key terrain, that is high ground especially a cliff. An enemy will eventually jump enough to scale a cliff, but he'll be hit by enough weapons fire with kickback that his silly ass will be back on the ground before he knows what hit him (and possibly dead from the gunfire and falling damage). This is a good tactic to pick off enemies. Plant your BO's on a cliff (out of sight of the enemy), then move your char to the cliff edge, take a pot shot and then back up and wait for the enemy.

On some missions, killing the boss will vaporize any remaining henchmen. So concentrate all firepower on him. If you have a character with Seduce, use that on the boss so he'll kill his own men. Hit the boss hard before you engage with your team. Things like mortars, orbital strike and plasma grenades work well.

There's a lot of different tactics to try. You have to find the ones that work for your team.

Flanking damage is king. Always make sure someone is able to land a flanking attack either on the mob's side or rear.

I have Threat Control skill maxed so I usually use myself to attract the boss's attention, lobbing shots as I madly dash from cover to cover, making sure to position myself in such a way that my officers can flank attack and cause additional damage.

If its a open field with little cover or when I'm facing the Borg, I will usually setup a killing zone with a pair of officers on each side with me on the far end farthest away from the mobs. I will use a single long range shot from my sniper rifle to draw the mobs into the middle of my killing zone. In this arrangement, I usually won't shoot much. If I do shoot, it is usually a carefully placed kill shot so I don't get aggro, or to intentionally grab aggro of a mob that is getting too close to my officers.

Assign one officer to shoot the medic. Even if he cant kill him the medic will be busy healing himself. In the meantime kill the engineer.
Use melee attacks that can disrupt him his gadgeteering or other knockback attacks.

No, not the commons. The Prototype (type) Tech drops, that get you the MK XII Elite gear (MACO/OMEGA).

Will also say it's annoying that you've got 3 levels of MACO/Omega gear that don't play together. You get excited about that Elite drop, then realize your MK XII shield won't do anything with your MK X deflector. And no way to trade up or upgrade, so you get gear that you eventually just toss or put on a shuttle or something.

Like I was saying, it would be nice if the Prototype Salvage (Purple) was a MK XII Elite set wildcard, so you could fill in the blanks in your gear set. As it is, it's the equivalent of 2 Rare Salvages, except you can buy MK XII instead of Mk XI.

While I'm complaining about getting Very Rare gear ( :) ), some of the drops from Defera Invasion have been annoying me. the cool stuff, like the Borg Prosthetics, are tradeable/saleable if you don't use them. Why are the pistols, stun guns, and the like all bind on pickup? If you've been playing a while, pretty much all your BOFFS have MK XI/XII guns already, so a MK X gun (and usually rapid-fire, so shitty with the need for remodulation constantly) is basically worthless. Can't sell it, can't trade it, can't give it to an alternate toon. Should be able to at least melt down the good gear for dilithium instead of having to turn in a Very Rare gun that you've never used for like 1500 EC...

Server maintenance had the worst timing today.

It was 15 minutes before server shutdown.
I went into one last infected space normal run (that can usually be done in less).
And we did (failed the optional and losz a üüplayer, but whatever).
About 2 minutes after the final warning (5 minutes to shutdown) we blew up the tac cube.
5 secondd later the server shut down. Did't even get the chance to pick up the reward loot.
    :(
    So close.

In other news: When you log in the next time, you will be able to use any special console from +1 ships (T1-T4) on any ship.

This is absolutely the final nail in the coffin for PvP for me.

I tried a match yesterday and I was disgusted by the console abuse the Klingons are already capable of in their BoPs, now everyone will be using it until PvP is really dead, because no one has fun anymore...

I guess Cryptic didn't sell enough conso... I mean ships.

    Sorry for the rant.
