Oh, I agree completely! Jennifer Lien's look lent itself very well to that sort of character image. One that is very graceful and pretty ... feminine to the nth degree. I'll still say it: women can never be too fem for me. And Lien could most easily project an image of caring and sweetness that's very charming. Unfortunately, the Kes character was written in such an absurd fashion that the only reason she worked at all was because of Jennifer's committed performance. However, the one thing Kes most definitely had going for her was The Look™.
Well ... I was going to work my wonders by having a steamy pile of shit on the lawn with flies buzzing around it, but fortunately ... Good Taste prevailed.

This is a screencap of a STAR TREK IV outtake, where whatever glue Shatner was using to keep his rug in place started to fizzled and bubble. Yeah ... a little oversight, there: Tendrils of glue clouded the water - stinging Shatner's eyes; obscuring his vision. At one point, the glue softened enough, to where his hairpiece actually became dislodged and started floating off, under its own (fizzing) power. This was all in the space of some 15 to 20 seconds, mind ...
