http://www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/doctor-who-unit-dominion-boxset-783 I'm surprised no ones mentioned this, it's been out for a week and I've tried to start a thread maybe 5 times, but found myself warbling on about tangents even more so than normal because this bastard is 5 hours long if you include the special features disk... 7 and another future Doctor, 12 or 13... Are helping UNIT, spearheaded at least morally by the former mirror universe Nazi, Doctor Elizabeth Kline, deal with a collapse of the walls between realities...4 hours. Four marvellous hours in one tiny little box. Any thoughts?
Until we see these on iTunes I won't be jumping on board the Big Finish bandwagon... iTunes is just too convenient for me, whilst everything else is complicated as I don't synch my iPhone or iPad to a computer, I download to them direct from iTunes and use iCloud too. I know I'm missing out before anyone says that I am
My CDs only turned up this morning - and with a shedload of new audios to hear this month, God knows when I'm going to get to listen to it all!
I could be misreading this but in the first hour or so it feels as if they are doing a critique of modern doctors via the use of the future Doctor.
It's an English poshgirl way of abbreviating the word "totally". I watched all of Switch (English Charmed. AWFUL!) recently which is painful and the villainesses were inbred poncy privileged trust-fund meangirl bitches who thought that they had to say "totes" at the end of every sentence to emphasize how serious they were about any given subject. I do hope you totes understand that I was totes saying totes ironically, totes. (Seriously, at the end of every sentence.)
I'm must confess that as an actual Englishman, all of that has passed me by - never heard of the show 'Switch' must be on one of the kids channels.
I also heard Jack White say it a bunch on Fresh Meat. (Fresh Meat is so funny. Comedy set at university. Season 2 finished yesterday.) Switch drops the F-bomb a lot and one of the witches is a lesbian talking constantly about how she loves to have sex with women. It's made for 20-somethings with mental issues. Season one was six episodes and finished 2 weeks ago.
Ah it's on ITV2 - which is indeed a channel for 20-somethings, the unemployed and the great unwashed.
I'm only twenty minutes in, but it's decent so far. Klein is excellent of course, Raine is good if too quippy as all BF companions are required to be, and Sylvester has forgotten how to act (again).
I'm about halfway through Part Four, and I'm enjoying it... kinda. The Doctor and Raine sure do spend a lot of time treading water plotwise, and Raine is even more generic than when Andrew Cartmel wrote her. But Klein is fantastic, and I like the Other Doctor a lot. I hope we see more of him. I'm pretty sure this could have been three discs, though; the alien incursions got a little repetitive in the middle, and there were about then scenes too many where the Doctor and Raine hung outside of the dimensions. "Hello, you!"
