Looks like the project is being animated by Lucas's animation department and being distributed by Disney's Touchstone pictures.

However, as Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The Clone Wars pilot movie and Red Tails sort of proved, even Lucas as producer and (part) writer could be bad these days.

Also CGI films that seem to present straight fantasy such as Delko, Battle For Terra and Epic have all been massive flops.

Hopefully it will be better than his last CG films.

Wow, I didn't even know this existed! Should be cool. I absolutely loved RANGO and it's got to be the visually realistic CGI movie ever made.

Sounds like fun. I remember reading something about LFL doing an animated musical last year but I've completely forgotten about it.

I'm glad GL is involved in another movie. He's got a talented team of actors and animated people involved just like he had for The Clone Wars (which he was pretty involved in). The announcement that Strange Magic will be released in two months after it was officially announced is surprising although he did the same thing with The Clone Wars movie (although there was a six-month gap between announcment and release).

Lucas is a smart guy and can produce some great stuff, but he needs someone there who can help iron out his more problematic areas. I'm glad he's still involved and I'd love to see what he does post-Star Wars.

Well, he's writing the story treatment, but even that could be an issue. Although he did the same for ESB, of course (Although certain elements from his treatment-such as Han's uncle or something-were not in the finished film).

He also sort of contributed story notes to The Force Awakens but with the scriptwriting changes to that who knows if any of Lucas's ideas will be in the finished film.

Lucas co-wrote the ESB screenplay. Nothing Leigh Brackett wrote survived into the second draft (which GL wrote) but he kept her name in the credits as a tribute to her. The story we saw onscreen is pretty much the one Lucas wrote in the second draft. Lawrence Kasdan's contribution was taking Lucas's horrendous dialogue (and it was truly AWFUL) and turning into into something memorable and legible.

Funny thing is, the only prequel with a credited co-writer is AOTC and that's got the worst dialogue out of the series.

ESB's deleted scenes also feature some thankfully cut dialogue:

Han:"You're as cold as this planet"

Leia: "And you want to apply some heat?"

What porno film is this from?

BTW, I thought Lucas retired for good. Nice to see he's still involved with LFL, even after he sold it.
