A couple of new 5" figures were revealed at Comic-Con. There's a basic 12th Doctor figure, which was to be expected. But also there was a Curator figure box set, complete with Gallifrey Falls No More! The Curator set looks freaking awesome. Link with pics
Reposting my post from the misc action figure/toy thread, as it's relevant here too: Just wanted to let you guys know that Action Figure Theatre (a site featuring comics made from various action figure lines, though mostly Doctor Who) is going to shut down their downloads page (where you can download the papercraft "sets" they use in their comics) next month. It's mostly Doctor Who sets, with a small handful of 3.75" scale Indiana Jones and Star Trek sets, as well as some miscellaneous sets that are not franchise specific. So if you are interested in free papercraft playsets for your figures, hurry over there before October 12.
A shop that's taken over a shut Tesco here has three Doctor three-sets: 11, Angel, transparent Angel. 10, Cybusman, Sarah Jane plus little Adipose. 4, D84, Deadly Assassin Master. Interesting choices.
Yeah, those have been out for a month or so. Existing figures released again. Great for those who might have missed them the first time. Sincerely, Bill
Is anyone sick of these 14cm figures? they don't have any detail and the articulation is rubbish. There should be more of 30cm figures with interchangable hands.. and clothing so the joints are hidden..
I like the 3.75-inch line. The problem is that it came after the 5-inch line (which likely spoiled many of us), and generally the bigger the figure, the more that can be done with it production-wise. But as a range of toys geared maybe more towards kids than adult collectors, the 3.75-inch line isn't that bad. It obviously isn't replacing the 5-inch line, which many adults feared.
Purple Missy No. 6051 arrived today, a bit ahead of the November send-out. Looks pretty decent in the box.
Related to the 1/13th scale figure line, I'm eagerly awaiting the WhoNA release of the 12th Doctor "Flight Control TARDIS". It brings back all the illumination features of the original Tennant box (which were sadly reduced to just the flashing lamp on the Matt Smith version). It's already in Toy'R'Us in the UK and certain Barnes & Noble bookstores in the US, but there are none conveniently near me. So I'm waiting for a shipment to reach WhoNA. Sincerely, Bill
Now we're talking! Just stumbled upon this a little while ago, and I think it looks fantastic! Just ordered one on eBay from a Canadian seller, and I can't wait to get it. Squeee! Here's a link to a UK page with some additional photos.
That *is* awesome. However, the bandolier thing doesn't make sense unless you include a "young War Doctor" head as well... Or you just want to create a making-of segment where Paul McGann was technically John Hurt's body double, since it was McGann who put the thing on. :P Mark
^ Ha, that's true about the bandolier, I didn't even think of that. Luckily it's removable to maintain screen accuracy, though your McGann-as-WarDoc-stand-in idea works too!
So I got my 8th Doctor figure earlier this week and it looks awesome! The detailing is great and the likeness to McGann is pretty spot-on. Here are a couple of the pics I took: I think he looks better without the bandolier, and given that Eight didn't actually wear it himself, that's okay.
Underground Toys had a bunch of DW on display at Toy Fair. Nothing particularly new, but I did notice some 5" scale repacks, including the Sarah Jane w/ K9 that I've been wanting for so long. Unerground Toys NYTF Gallery
A look at the toy of 12's new screwdriver. "The Twelfth Doctor's Second Sonic features multiple sound effects, plus green and blue light modes with static, pulsate and chase effects."
