That pack is full of win. I've been seeing a lot of complaints about it lacking 'Bohemian Rhapsody' but to be fair, while it's obviously a great, classic song... I don't think it's particularly well-suited for Rock Band. Aside from the vocal part, the rest of the band would be sitting there doing nothing the majority of the song.
Yeah, Bohemian Rhapsody wouldn't really work to well. Though I do lament the absence of Don't Stop Me Now.
But Guitar Hero would overchart it so you would be playing guitar on the vocals. "We Are the Champions" is the missing song that's puzzling.
If Harmonix doesn't want band members to get bored during a song, then why did they pick "Cool for Cats" and "E-Pro?"
"We Will Rock You / We are the Champions" is in Lego Rock Band, which features exporting into RB2. I'm guessing that's the reason for its absence from the pack. As for "Bohemian Rhapsody," I'll bet anything that Harmonix is holding onto that one until Rock Band 3 is released, utilizing the vocal harmony technology developed for The Beatles. Well, in the case of "Green Grass & High Tides," the singer's role when the first solo starts is to shotgun a six-pack of beer and knock over as many pieces of furniture as possible in the allotted time. It's a minigame, you see.
I rented Beatles: RB today and played through the story mode with a friend. It's a real blast and I am loving the drum parts. Probably not a great game for non-Beatlemaniacs, but I'm loving it!
U2: Rock Band? Since they seem to care a lot about the integrity and authenticity of their music, Guitar Hero: U2 would be out of the question.
I don't think anyone is going to give U2 their own music game. Either way, I'm more than happy that they don't want to muddy the RB DLC waters with their stuff.
Does any band really deserve this kind of one branded experience to the point of U2? I mean, if games were cheaper and it could be sold for the price of a "Best of" compilation CD, maybe? But I don't think anyone would be a fake U2 branded Fender or whatever.
Egos aside, U2 has some pretty good songs. However, I wouldn't want an entire U2 game. Few bands are worthy of that.
Oh, shit... I could be in trouble: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/07/ign-rock-band-is-coming-to-the-iphone/
Not a bad looking week! Especially the Guitar Hero retreads. I've come to grips with rebuying songs just to have them in Rock Band.
Lego Rock Band track list, song export will be $9.99: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/10/12/lego-rock-band-tracks-revealed-transferable-to-rock-band/
I'm not arguing the quality of the game (although I prefer the electronic tracks of the old games to Rock songs), I'm just saying it's not really a Rock Band game.
Hah, it uses a code so you can rent the game and export the songs - you just have to be the first person to do it. Still, the only song I want is Song 2... so I'll probably wait for this to be bargain binned.
