I actually watched a con panel on YouTube not too long ago where Spiner was talking about the make-up tests they did leading up to the show. According to him they tried numerous colors and cut them together in a tape for Gene to review, and Gene just OK'd the first color on the tape and that was that. His punchline was that he sure is glad they didn't put pink first on the tape!

By the way, Mike, thank you for paying us a visit here and for the wonderful work you and the team are doing on this remastering!

Wow, Dig Geordi with the jheri-curls and the pedo-stache. The VISOR design is actually interesting though I think the "gold part" needs to be more dynamic with the slits and stuff but I like the curved ends ad the lack of the "screws"/attachments on the ends of it.

Geordi looks like Eriq LaSalle's character from Coming to America.

On the subject of commentaries on the blu-rays, or lack thereof, allow me to
add myself to the list of folks disappointed by this.

I saw these TNG blu-rays as an opportunity to correct the omission of commentaries
from the DVD season sets. I`m a big fan of DVD commentary (see for Eg Ron and
Brannon`s commentary on Generations DVD -great stuff) and to not have *any* on 7 years of TNG Eps was a big bummer.

Maybe I`ve been spoilt by Classic Doctor Who DVDs!
(They set the standard for TV series DVD releases, I reckon.)

Anyhoo, how about some text commentary for TNG, at least!
I note that Mike and Denise Okuda have provided text commentary on
Best of Both Worlds and Sins of the Father, on the compilation DVD sets
    of recent years (Fan Collective)

Could these commentaries be ported to the blu-rays perhaps???

    Fingers crossed :)

    OK for a TNG-fan I`m a bit clueless ;)

I just discovered there are more text commentaries on the 'Fan Collective' DVDs
and even two AUDIO commentaries (at least...maybe there are more I`m missing!)

But yeah Brannon Braga did audio commentary on 'Parallels'

Can we please have *that* on the season 7 blu-ray , CBS???

I would expect that such decisions would have been made by now, at least for the first couple of seasons. I think they are well into the remastering of season 3 at this point.

Edit: I must appologise I read season 1 not season 7 in your post.

I wonder if they'll continue to release pics from the upcoming seasons, or was that just a one-time thing for the initial release?

I for one never get tired of seeing them, so hopefully it'll be an ongoing thing....

They'll probably keep doing it, since it helps build hype for the releases.

It looks like this site will be one to keep an eye on: Ex Astris Scientia

They appear to have the set in their possession already: Pic

Yes, we do have the set. Some updates will go live soon that I have worked on the last few months. I'm sure, though, that several other sites will have the set soon too. Only 2 1/2 more weeks! :-)

Last night, Robert Meyer Burnett let this slip on Twitter:

So that confirms what I heard about two weeks ago that they were now working on seasons 2 and 3 simultaneously. Cool.
("The Defector" is episode 10 of season 3. "Yesterday's Enterprise" is episode 15.)

So, gaghyogi, what's the 2-second upscaled shot from "We'll Always Have Paris"? Or are you saving that for your updates?

I wouldn't be surprised if they tossed YE to the end of the docket, just to give themselves more time to plan what to do with it besides the regular remastering of the interior stuff.

Speaking of the YE interior, I'd love to see a featurette or two about how they redressed the E-D interior over the years (one specifically for YE and one for the altered sets that showed up in other episodes, like AGT, Parallels, and Future Imperfect).

I just hope, that doesn't mean they're rushing things. I wouldn't mind waiting a bit longer if they keep the quality consistent throughout the seasons.

According to what I was told, they hired another team to handle the added workload of scanning and assembling more episodes quicker so they'd be ready for VFX work sooner (the artists and compositors were apparently sometimes waiting on restored footage to work with -- that's my $.02 anyway)... and it's likely this wont push up the release dates at all -- things just got "a bit hairy at the end" as they were struggling to meet their deadline for Season 1.

The hope is that Season 2 will be totally complete by the end of the year and 3 will be at least assembled with VFX work well under way... with initial assembly of 4 and 5 begun before the year is over.
