I vaguely remember it. You don't have a picture, do you?

And again I am completely baffled to find something in the internet. I really did not expect to find pictures from the ready room. But obviously there is a picture of everything.

Is it this black thing on the windowsill which I can not really recognise on this picture?

We had a thread once called Janeway's stuff, LOL. Here's some more of her items:

You can see the dragon's place on the shelf in this one:

    I believe Kashyk mentions this:

    A geode:

I guess the props department visited a head shop:

Teacake, of whom is the bronze bust a likeness? I don't recognise it.

I'm pretty sure Kashyk is talking about that bust here:

KASHYK: It seems you have a long-standing obsession with exploration, Captain. I, on the other hand, have much more in common with this ancient soldier.
JANEWAY: He's from Earth's classical period. It produced some of our greatest artists as well.

Though I might be wrong, I'd have to get the dvd out. But none the wiser as to who it is :(

Hmm. It might be a classical version of Odysseus, but the cap doesn't look right. Not pointed enough.

It's not one of the well known classical philosophers. And it's not Pericles.

    Stumped.

I predict it is crap from the "Ancient Stuff Props" aisle of Paramount.

Surely if it was someone Janeway would have said? Trek loves it's literate name dropping captains.

I was just about to say Odysseus would be the perfect in-joke.

Actually google provides some images of antique Odysseus heads and there is some resemblance to Janeways bronze warrior head.
And for the too round cap: maybe Janeway patted it very often - for comfort. The shiny surface is an indication

Plus it's a few hundred more years old. Perhaps it had an accident.

How did Janeway get such a valuable antique anyway?

    Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
She went back to 800something BC, bought the statue from the artist (merchandise), went to the local Odyssey con and had it signed by Homer himself.

    JANEWAY'S ODYSSEY
    An adaptation, for Teacake

    "O Muse, tell of
    The woman diverse in wisdom,
And much, in her life, with sorrow.
She helped, with her might, to have the Array fall,
The Caretaker's Array with its meaning, Array seen sadly by destiny.
His divinely built wall stood no more.
This woman wandered from planet to planet,
Observing as she went from place to place.
The ways of men and aliens she noted, how their lives were.
Oh, the spaces in tumult that she contested were innumerable,
And the ground beans, well roasted, she drank were countless."
