I must be rather sad, in the fact that I wear clothes that are comfortable wear and don't try to strangle me, squeeze me etc...

The only time I wear baseball caps is when I'm at a baseball game, and in those instances, I always wear it forward.

As for clothes? When I'm not working, I also rock a baseball motif, at all times. Sweaters in cold weather, T-shirts in warm. Often baggy.

You can choose not to believe in a speed limit, yet still commit a violation by exceeding it there, friend. ;)

Ignorance may be bliss, but it is no license for breaking the rules (hard or soft). And wow, some people really do make quite a go of it with fashion. I agree with Teacake that most men don't know what fashion is, only what's extremely comfortable or very convenient--for them. Once in a while they collide with accepted style...

I'm 37, but i'm in a jam band, so my hair is OK apparently.

Any age is too old to wear a cap backwards, or any other item of clothing for that matter.

That's probably right. And I prefer it that way. Rules? What rules? :p

srsly though, I'm not trying to be deliberately obtuse, but I do take issue with the concept of 'rules' in fashion, as if there's things that I am required to wear just because everyone else is. Like I said, I just wear normal black pants, plus T-shirts (in warm weather) and sweaters (when it's cold). Those things will always be "permissible" to wear, they are outside all considerations of style that I can see. So there is no danger it will run into such arbitrary and shallow definitions like "fashion". ;)

Surely there is a middle ground between "so tight I can see your bollocks" and "I made this out of a potato sack"?

Baseball caps have a particular significance in american culture I'm not qualified to comment on - however in the UK, expect for a short period where they were very popular in the 1990s, you are now most likely to see them on:

    1) That guy in a rain-coat hanging around outside a school

    2) An offender on a work gang

    3) People fishing

^ I wear caps during games because I have to - otherwise my head will become burned. Not having hair, and all that. :D

^ I get so few bald jokes (it seems that guys who have a *little* bit of hair get more ridicule than us baldies!) that I will actually laugh at that.

I don't wear caps/hats that often, but If I do it's to shade my eyes if I'm not wearing sunglasses as I can get headaches in bright sunlight.

I haven't worn jeans in 20 years. They're uncomfortable and I hate 'em.

^If they're uncomfortable you're wearing the wrong ones! :rommie:

Plus: they're durable, cheap, comfy, easy to clean 'stuff' off and can take anything your washer/drier does to them without looking worse for it, in fact; the more you wash 'em the better they look.

Jeans are uncomfortable for me, no matter what the size.

Now I just buy black khaki pants from Target or Costco. Besides I can wear them to work and at leisure.

I love watching the European telling the American the joys of something so traditionally American! But I'm with you, TD. I love jeans, especially now that they usually have just a tad of stretch to them.

Well... they are "de Nîmes" :p

Oh: it's not about 'size' but about 'shape' (/cut/model/...).

pheeew :) I'm glad to hear that. Besides, many bald(-ish) men are quite sexy! Just think of Yul Brynner or a certain Enterprise Captain =)

actually, they were invented by Jacob Davis, a gentleman from Poland, and made popular by Levi Strauss, a German (Bavarian, even). So Jeans are a quite European invention, on the whole :nyah:

The only thing I ever needed to know about jeans is this:

Money talks, but it don't sing and dance and it don't walk.

Give you young'uns a little time to work that one out. ;)
