I think it could work, I thought DT’s look seemed to straddle 40s/70s IMO. The suit is more spiv than PI though, and the trench coat always looked more 70s to me, so I still think there is the option to go for a more traditional 1940’s look, not that I’d want them to go there.

I fear we may get another Victorian/Edwardian look, but to be honest I’d prefer that to him just being a man in a suit. Hopefully whatever the look it will suit (sorry) his Doctor the way 9/10/11’s looks suited them.

I called Smith’s look way in advance, Capaldi’s doesn’t leap out at me so much, aside from the thing I said earlier, a fancy suit with a grungy T-shirt under it rather than a shirt/tie.

I will be amazed if he has a tie, and/or a hat.

I'm hoping for another Edwardian look, something to make him standout rather than normal looking clothes that allow him to fit in.

I'd like to see him do a fake out and make people think he's going to wear a Colin Baker-like awful coat, and then after a few heads explode, put on his real outfit

The Frilly Pertwee-style clothes could be great for him

Personally, I want the Edwardian/Victorian look again, but closer to McGann than Hartnel. However, I also want a big black gothic coat. I just want a gothic doctor at last. :P

But being realistic, I have the feeling Capaldi might be the first doctor with "top button swag". That could be the modern twist the BBC are talking about!

Tom Spillsbury (editor of DWM) has confirmed Peter definitely isn't shooting today, and we might have to wait a while before we see him in costume. But he also said that DWM comes out next week...

Well as mentioned, he will probably be in smith's costume for while during the first episode, depends on what scenes there shooting first. If there outdoor scenes someone will take a pic. Im sure before that happens the BBC will send out some press shots of him in his new costume. So i would guess we will know by the end of January if not sooner.

According to some tweets, episode one is being filmed first, Peter Capaldi will still be wearing Matt's outfit, and the Clockwork droids from "Girl In The Fireplace" are back

ooh their filming episode 1 first! They're bucking the trend ;)

Minus the bow tie, of course.

Well with Smith I seem to recall the first sight we got of him was on location with Karen, I'm pretty sure we got a proper publicity shot of Tennant though.

I think it's interesting that they deliberately seemed to do that. Essentially, only Matt Smith could be the bowtie Doctor. Although there was something symbolic about the bowtie hitting the floor as well.

Well Matt isn't the only Doctor to wear a bowtie. Seemed to just be a metaphor for change, much like Five unrevelling Four's scarf.

If people only knew how much this guy LOVED the show when he was younger you'd understand his smile.

This is like a dream come true for him

Damn, if nothing else, he's persistent.

Honestly, I'm glad Hugh Laurie won it. He was amazing in that role.

Samurai8472, what's you're source for the above facts? Not that I don't trust you, but I always question sources.
