I chose Other. Specifically, the Kelvan Empire. The TOS episode "By Any Other Name" left a feeling of ominous impending threat that was never followed up on, save for one throwaway line from Worf on DS9.
Which really made no sense for Worf to be fighting one. The next wave would still be, at least, two-hundred years away.
Romulans. Kruge should have stayed a Rommie. At the very least, Klingons should have never been given cloaking devices.
Romulans... we just never got them in their element. Nemesis came close but then deflected to Remans and Shinzon. ST09 was one rogue Romulan. We never really see the true threat of the Star Empire.
That's exactly right. Man, I *loved* that book. Really captures the spirit of the franchise, I thought. At the time, I thought it was the BEST Trek novel I'd ever read. I can't believe it has been 20 years.
I voted Lore, but I think there are others that could have been better. Lore is interesting, it's too bad we will never see his reaction to Data's death. He might actually feel bad, or not. The Kelvans are a good suggestion, just because Rojan's party said it would take 300 years doesn't mean they are the only party that was sent, they could have dispatched another at 100 year intervals, for example. The Romulans really did get cheated a good appearance as the antagonists. I wonder why 2 movies in a row they switched the Romulans into Klingons, even when almost everything pointed to Romulans after the change. (I know the budget was the real reason.) Tholians would/could have been really good. Their web weapons and ships might have been better suited to a movie budget and they are practically a blank slate, only one appearance and a mention in a few episodes. Plus, they are punctual. And the Gorn. I'd have loved to see more of them, only one appearance. Kzinti would have been interesting, realized in live action, hopefully with no pink anywhere in sight. Also, a space monster would have been good. V'ger was kind of a space monster, but I'm thinking more of the non communicative type more like the Planet Killer, Space Ameoba, or Vampire Cloud, but not one of them back, of course, a new one. The whale turd with the dingleberry was kind of like a monster, but no one even tried to get rid of it.
Star Trek Online gave the Iconians a body and a very creepy, mysterious presentation. It really makes me wonder what a movie would have been capable of, especially since the Iconians are technologically to the Federation what fearsome and mysterious Engineers from Prometheus are to us modern day humans. It could be a truly scary but wondrous Star Trek movie, capable of challenging future humanity's notions of space exploration. With that said, if Q were ever in a movie, it probably wouldn't be as an antagonist. His best episodes were always the ones where he put the heroes in certain situations to test them out. (Unfortunately, his DS9 and VOY episodes turned him into a babysitter).
Lore should have been in Nemesis instead of B4, and he should have played a bigger role there. That being said, I would have loved to see the return of the aliens from "Conspiracy".
I would prefer NEW villains/antagonists in the movies rather than trotting out the same-old from the TV shows.
