Last year's Chel Grett is definitely the stronger ship. Its beefier and can be turned into a torpedo boat, or beam armored escort, or heavy cannon fiend.

Does the Breen cruiser get any of the cruiser powers? I haven't even logged onto any character with one. If so, it could be the best free cruiser in the game, especially for feds/rommies.

Unfortunately, the Chel Grett is classed as a Destroyer and not a cruiser so it does not get cruiser commands. However it is clear by now that Cryptic is adding unique abilities to each type of ship.

Carriers got carrier abilities and promoting fighters.
    Cruisers got command abilities.
Romulan Warbirds got singularity core abilities.
Raiders got a flanking attack damage bonus.
Science Vessels are rumored to be getting a secondary deflector slot.

I am pretty sure Destroyers like the Breen Chel Grett, Naussican Garumba, Naussican Scourge, KDF Temporal ship, and the KDF Veteran Reward ship will be getting Destroyer-specific abilities soon. My guess is that Destroyers will get a frontal assault damage bonus.

Is the Plesh Brek any good? I was planning on getting one for my tac captain to mess around in.

Appreciate the info on the Breen ships.

Actually, I've all but stopped hitting the Winter Wonderland. I like it but most of my characters have the essentials (weapons, boots, scarf, jacket, epophs and accolades). On one of my alts, there were 12 fleet members online and only me and another player were in the Winter Wonderland. It would be more interesting if there was a fleet meetup there.

Ok, I'm crazy for doing this, but I'd like to set up a solo fleet on my Rommie character as a long-term project... Any of you have alts that are currently unfleeted who could assist me in registering it and then depart?

I'm aware of the irony in having to ask for help to establish an independent project. ;)

I don't intend to have my alts which are currently in the TBBS fleet abandon it for my solo one, but I think it's only fair to say I'm not really getting time to focus on more than one character anyway, so if they are dead weight, feel free to kick them.

Well, it's your project, but may I ass what for?
Take a look at how far TrekBBS Armada has come since the very beginning of the fleet system.
It would be far more beneficial to utilize the resources we have struggled with the whole fleet to get instead of making it even more difficult for yourself to start over?
Putting more resources into the advanced Armada Base will net you higher rewards faster.

Because I want a project I feel I can contribute to as and when I like without worrying that I'm not pulling my weight. I'm also heavily into an RP vibe for this character that he is an independent spirit. Even if it takes a long time, it would add to that sense of "self-made man". Just unfortunate that I need to ask for help to start the fleet up.

Then don't think of it as asking for help. Pay your helpers a pittance, and take the RP stance of having hired mercenaries for a task.

Well, a pittance isn't mandatory, I'm sure I could chuck a few thousand dilithium at anyone willing to help (say 4-5k each?).

Except you can't transfer dilithium to other players. EC is what you need for that.

Nope, the only way to do something like that is to tip a foundry authour with a pittance of dilithium or maybe PW allows you to gift someone zen outside of the game?

Ok would have to be EC then, figured that wouldn't be appealing unless I could manage a lot, but would 200k work?

Yeah, try finding some newbies to help you. For them 200k is a lot. For a vet 200k is a Single loot drop from an STF.

Eh, who's worried about not carrying their weight? I chip in when I can, or when I've got whatever is being looked for. If I come into some loot that I sell, I'll buy a DOFF pack and toss it in the chipper. Sure i'm not in the top couple contributors, but it's not really that kind of fleet, and no one is hounding people, or prioritizing seniority or rank based on contributions.

Just seems like a giant waste compared to contributing to the established Fleet. Surely THIS level of interaction isn't too much; we're pretty hands off. Sure, it'll be all yours, but it won't ever be much of anything, so what's the difference? We've come along nicely, if slowly, quitting right when we're making a dent seems silly. And the base is empty most of the time, RP away.

Seriously, this is the most low pressure fleet you could find. Priorities for current projects get posted, and no one nags you.

The closest we've gotten to nagging has been me making a couple requests for help KDF side.

But in the end, whatever floats your boat!

    Matthunter,

As the others have stated, the resources that you will generate on your own will never equal what you have with a real fleet. Some fleets base fleet rank on your project donations, but the TrekBBS is not that way. I think of it more as a co-operative group. Any amount of donation benefits everyone.

Personally, I wish that STO would enact LOTRO's policy of dropping guilds that fall below 10 members...

Having said that, there never seems to be a shortage of newbies at Earth Space Dock that would be willing to temporarily join your fleet for 50k to 100k. You could also buy an existing fleet. (Just make sure that you kick all alts of the seller out and never let them join again. You should also change the name.)

    Thanks

    I have another idea.

Maybe an adjutant position for matthunter would be a solution.
I am pretty much on an open MMO sabbatical at the moment and don't know when I return to the game.
Not sure how many adjutants are actually active right now to keep the fleet progress running.
Giving matthunter some responsibilties would enable him to have more direct control on how he can contribute and benefit him through better rewards while allocating his resources in a more meaningful way.

    How about that?
