Yeah, so he would be better suited for this. It would be great for Marketing. I think there would be people curious of him as the Joker, who would not care otherwise.

^ I can well believe it (that he was too frightening).

A look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_curry shows that he has since appeared in Batman The Animated Series and Batman Beyond, so it looks like he doesn't bear a grudge against Dini and co.

I think changing of voice actors happens often before release. Its not like he was replaced after it aired and he was already accepted in the role. Its hard to know a performance will suit the intention until the animation is done.

Which did happen to Clive Revill, who played Alfred in four early episodes before being replaced with Efrem Zimbalist, Jr.

LOL! I can't imagine RotJ or the Prequels without Ian McDiarmid.

I don't remember why he was replaced as Alfred. Was it a scheduling conflict?

    I don't know, but I couldn't imagine TAS without Efrem Zimbalist. :)

I think I read/heard once that they wanted a warmer, more paternal Alfred than Revill provided. Not sure, though.

(I think one of the record-holders for getting replaced as an animation voice is James Avery. He was the original voice of Shredder on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, James Rhodes in the '90s Iron Man, and Sir Bryant in The Legend of Prince Valiant, and in all three cases he was later replaced by Dorian Harewood. I've always wondered why that was, since the two don't even sound that similar. And the three substitutions happened years apart, so it's not like he had to be replaced in all three roles at once.)

I haven't read the comics yet, but I've at least like all of DC's recent animated movies and this is a great cast so I'm really looking forward to this. I did see Batman: Year One after I read the comic, and I thought they did a great job with that adaptation, so I don't doubt they'll do a good job with this one.

So far I'm liking the designs for this. Can't wait for the preview.

Andrea Romano is voice director on The Dark Knight Returns, Parts 1 and 2. She doesn't fill that role on Superman Vs. the Elite (Dawn Hershey does), making it the first movie in the PG-13 DTV line where she's not the voice director.

I thought I heard somewhere that she was no longer going to be working with DC. Or was that Lauren Montgomery?

I believe that was Lauren Montgomery who was moving on from directing.

Lauren Montgomery left Warner Bros to take a job on The Legend of Korra.

Andrea Romano is also the voice director on Korra (as she was on Avatar: TLA), but that's alongside her work on the DCU movies and various other productions. Voice recording takes a lot less time than animation, so it's easier for a voice director to work on multiple projects at once.

I didn't know that was where she went. Very cool, I love TLoK.

Except I can't find a mention of Montgomery on the Avatar Wiki. And every episode of season 1 is apparently being directed by Joaquin Dos Santos & Ki Hyun Ryu. Is she working on the second season?
