    Smaller craft might be better. Ships that can contain maybe 50 passengers at most so that they can achieve the maxium velocity possible.

    It would be like holding a ton of leaves in front of a fan. The fan might move them a little bit as a whole but when you put a little space between each leaf the ton of leaves now becomes a ton of a thousand ships moving the speed of Jupiter...the speed of Jupiter. The speed of light is based off of the sun and gravity governing the velocity of a light photon. The speed of Jupiter is based off of the gravity of Jupiter governing the velocity of an object to near the speed of light.

    The very first iteration of the Wikipedia article on the subject would be more enlightening than anything this spambot can come up with.

    I'm not even a "science guy" and this pisses me off.

    On the other hand ... when I can cite Dryson as sounding like a literal stuck record, perhaps the thread has turned a corner. Personally, I thought that was a milestone.

    Massless particles are known to experience the same gravitational acceleration as other particles (which provides empirical evidence for the equivalence principle) because they do have relativistic mass, which is what acts as the gravity charge.

    So gravity does play the most important part of the velocity of a massless particle which includes the photon. Gravity creates the speed of light as well the weight of a mass particle.

    Without gravity the massless particle will most likely not be able to exist but the mass particle not having any gravity to effect upon its mass to create a weight would therefore be able to be accelerated to near the speed of light and faster velocities.

    Although the Neutrino is not able to travel faster than the speed of light it might be possible to use the Neutrino in a similar engine such as the ION Engine.

    Maybe the neutrino could have an electromagnetic or artificially generated gravity or gravity applied to it that would cause it to become a propulsed particle. If gravity effects a neutrino then maybe neutrinos could be emitted around a ship that would facilitate a movement of direction that would generate a pulling force in either the opposite or same direction of travel based on the direction of travel of the ship as a result of the interaction between the neutrino and gravity.

    If you could control gravity you wouldn't need the neutrino to create propulsion.

    We now knew that while photons have no mass, they do possess momentum (so your statement about light not
    affecting matter is incorrect).

    This means that as a ship travels faster and faster towards the speed of light the ship is occupying more space every moment where the build-up of particles creates a gravitational effect upon the ship itself which would include light as well since light does effect matter. Meaning that since light occupies more space than any other particle where the light photons are traveling at the speed of light a greater mass of light photons is encountered by the ship more than particles which then causes an extreme amount of gravity to be produced by all of the particles and light photons and the ship itself that based upon this

    As a the time and distance between point A and B contracts or gets smaller as the ship accelerates to light speed velocity, the gravitational field at the surface, or flight path of the ship gets stronger due to interactions between the particles and light photons encountered en mass, thus reducing the velocity of the ship and causing more fuel to be expended. This makes it more and more difficult for the ship to escape the collective mass of
    encountered particles and photons. Eventually, if the ship reaches a critical velocity, the gravitational field at the surface becomes so strong that the path of the ship is congested so severely with the mass of particles and photons that the ship can no longer escape and returns to a normal velocity based upon the ability of the ships engines to effectively produce enough momentum to break free of the accumulated gravitational forces between the ship itself, particles and light photons.

    So when designing the warp ship we would first need to figure out how to divert all forms of light photons away from the ship to reduce the amount of light that is absorbed by the material of the ship itself.

    When thinking about light effecting a ship traveling close to the speed of light and faster think of two cars.

    The first car would be Model T Ford which would represent our starship.

    The second car would be a 2014 Ford Mustang that would represent the light photons encountered in the Universe.

    The Model T is traveling at 45 mph and the Mustang at 100 mph. Both collide head on. The Model T like the starship would absorb the momentum of the Mustang that is the light photon that when then cause the Model T to crumple as it the momentum of the mass of photons it encounters as it travels closer to the speed of light would cause structural fatigue to the Model T because the Model T was not able to overcome the moment of the mass of light particles that it encountered the faster it accelerated to the speed of light.

    Same scenario this time the Model T has a field around it that is able to repel every form of light photon that is hull material comes into contact with. The model is therefore able to accelerate faster because the momentum of the mass of photons encountered is non existent or less prevalent.

    In the next scenario two 2014 Mustangs are nose to nose, one representing a starship traveling at the speed of light and the mass of light photons traveling at the speed of light.

    Both are not able to make any head way in the direction of travel because the force of their momentum cancels each other out because they are traveling at the exact same velocity. A field around the starship that repels all forms of light photons is activated and instantly the mass of photon momentum gives way allowing the starship to travel forward at faster than light speed velocities.

    The part of the solution would be to repel all forms of particles in space that have mass which would cause damage to the ships hull itself through direct contact.

    Of course he can—in those shaded areas where tangentially perpendicular circles overlap like Mustangs and Model Ts. But only in those shaded areas, so it's not really useful for interstellar travel.
