This thread is all about your favorite 80's music.

Let me start off with power pop band The Outfield's Your Love.

    Great song.

I have so much love for music from the 80s that I have no idea even where to begin. And when I say "music from the 80s," I mean specifically that. The actual 80s music (pop) genre, I never really had much time for.

But I suppose if one is going to dive into the 80s, he best start with The Smiths.

Mmmmm, the 80's. When music videos ruled. I went from preteen to adult during those years. There' just too much music I love from that time to really single anything out. I think this video captures the early days of mtv pretty well:

I totally love 80's music. It's my favorite of all kinds. I make a mission in life out of collecting it. There's so much genius in 80's tunes that it's hard to find out where to begin!

I think the reason I like it so much is that it's remarkably unpretentious: it's just about partying and having a good time and stuff like that. It's not like you get a thousand political rantings about politics in Israel or anything like that. It's just entertaining!

@Davros: You mean the Vapors actually had songs OTHER than "Turning Japanese"?

Guess you didn't listen to early U2, or the Alarm, or Sting, or...

In the 80's it was all about the cold war and the whole Irish IRA thing was a popular subject as well. Oh, and

Love the 80's. I was in my twenties, good times. ( and a few bad times)

It's funny. The boyfriend in that video always reminded me of Falco.

Yeah, that's a weird thing to say. And it's not like there isn't a ton of songs about partying and having fun today (looking at you Kesha, FloRida, Florida-Georgia Line...)

    Oh right, the 80s.

I like this one from Kate Bush. It says a lot about the internet even though it was released in 1989. The video however is recent and features Robbie Coltrane.

Always makes me think of Kira and Odo - a YouTube video compilation thing was done to that song. It's a good song too.

I was totally into hair-metal back in the 80's. :ouch:
