Well they are set in a different timeline.

But there's two issues numbers identical for 616 and AU.

Which must be fricking annoying for people still cataloguing their comics.

I mean when you get home from a convention and find that you spent 60 bucks on comics you forgot that you already owned, because the shot through the heart memory of not owning them is stronger than the meek orgasm memory of buying all those same comics from the last time you found them, cataloguing and tracking tens of thousands of comics still doesn't pay for itself.

Looking back on the lists I used to keep, my mania boarded on the religious fanaticism of those monks locked up in monasteries illuminating manuscripts.

Anyone else pick up Avengers: Enemy Within #1? It's the start of the five issue Captain Marvel event that starts in the issue I named, then continues in Captain Marvel and Avengers Assemble.

It's (I think) going to be the resolution of the ongoing Captain Marvel storyline of Carol's brain lesion and the person responsible for targeting her lately.

This crossover event is also going to be my jumping on point for Avengers Assemble, a title I'm looking forward to picking up as an ongoing since I'm really digging the work Kelly Sue DeConnick is doing on Captain Marvel.

I thought it was great...and yes it does carry over from Carol's arc in "Captain Marvel". Not to fond of the art though.

Yeah I'm not sure why artwork like in Capt Marvel and other comics is so 'popular' lately, sure's got energy and it's kinda 'fun' but I sorta like my comic art to be less cartoony and rubbery. I mean I half expect Carol to pull a giant mallet out of her purse and whack someone with it with little cartoon birdies floating above their head.

Not sure if it's just an internet trend started with artists like Skottie Young and the like, but I think that kinda style of art should be left to like web comics and strips, not full on comics. It's like an almost "teen" style

It is kind of odd seeing Carol and Jessica appear to be midgets. At least the art from the Avengers: Enemy Within book isn't as bad as the stuff they've been giving us in Captain Marvel (as Nick Ryder points out).

While I do find it to be a tad on the bland side, I really enjoy the Daredevil artwork.

So, I'm throwing this out to long-time collectors-- This has been driving me crazy ever since I first saw it. The Allred cover to FF 8 (seen here) is an homage to what Buscema drawn cover of Fantastic Four? I've searched a few internet archives with no luck. I could dig out my box of old Fantastic Four comics, but that would be a bit of a project. Anyone? Guy Gardner, perhaps?

I just looked through 416 covers trying to prove what a big man I am.

    http://www.comics.org/series/1482/covers/?page=1

12 pages of thumbnails, takes less than ten minutes.

    Didn't see it.

Because buying it all isn't possible, like many of you, I pick and choose what to read and my monthly pulls have considerably thinned down the past year.

However, when I find $1 box finds I go for it. Playing catch up in the $1 bin here is my simple response to the following Marvel Now #1 issues I recently read.

Nova #1 - not bad, not sold, timeline seems wonky? Where is Rich, still dead?
Uncanny Avengers #1 - Didn't grab me, felt decompressed right away.
New Avengers #1 - DID Grab me, great pacing and if Black Panther is the focus will consider for TPB
FF #1 - UGH, Absolutely NOT!!
Captain America #1 - Pretty good, may consider for TPB
Wolverine #1 - It's only a 4ish arc, that there has me impressed AND it was a solid opening issue. TPB potential
Cable & X-Force #1 - Mostly neutral on this, if I find #2+ in $1 boxes I'll consider, TPB not likely.

Richard Rider is still considered dead yes. Or at least trapped in an alternate reality. I don't believe we have seen him since the end of the Annihilation saga. As for possible timeline issues, I haven't really detected any, this kind of could be looked as a "loose" companion book to "Guardians of the Galaxy" since Gamora and Rocket are "mentoring" Sam. It's also pretty self contained.

I take it those books were second hand and damaged?

I swear there is no resale value in comics anymore.

I remember years ago, when I worked in one of those shops, we could get away with selling practically new books for 20 or 30 dollars less than a month after publication.

Thanos and Starlord are back, Rich is still "dead." Doesn't seem fair.

Starlord was never "shit" he was just a forgotten nothing that nobody used for 30 years.

That being said, he might have been shit, it's just that I forgot.

Ben Grimm just used the phase "Declaration of principles" in a sentence correctly.

Aunt Petunia, if that was supposed to be his aunt this week, is supposed to be young and hot in the modern day.

Fraction needs to get stuff fact checked.

Are we even sure that it's a parody/homage of an old Fantastic Four cover and not some other equally notorious cover?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Thanks for confirming the status of "my" Nova Admiral_Young etc.

They really weren't. They would be considered VF/NM or 9.0-9.4 if you were going to grade them.

I also got a complete run of Voodoo, Red Lanterns 1-11, Stormwatch 0-12 and nearly all of Grifter, Static Shock and Captain Atom. All $1 books also. I'll get to those in time.

Yeah, it seems the collector aspect of monthly comics really lies in either the book being a surprise hit and had a low print run OR the Variant cover market makes a book in demand.
The store I worked at in the mid 90's could get an upcharge of $.50-$1 on most books the month after. So I get what you're saying on that front.

    The real problem is trades.

They keep printing new volumes of everything continuously.

There is no scarcity any more.

Deapool cover this month: "The Inferior Deadpool".

    "snigger"

    Indestructible Hulk #8
Savage Wolverine #5 (close of the arc right, new creative team for #6?)

Probably also my last issue of Savage then.
