For me the sweet spot is like Cmdr 8 to RA lower half. I think we currently have enough content at LT and LCDR level.

    I told you so. ;-)

Somebody posted last month that they would be glad when F2P arrived so the patches would stop and I said to expect daily downtime for a few weeks after. Considering the number of missions that are still broken, I'm extending that prediction until at least the end of February.

Cryptic has taken down the referral page. I don't know if that means that the referral rewards are nerfed. Wait, I didn't get my Dreadnought Cruiser yet! Can buddy passes be far behind. I guess the bean counters told them to stop trying to recruit gold members. Tell me again the advantage of being gold... At least the F2P players are getting their money's worth.

How about another prediction for you. Do the new players have Cryptic accounts or Perfect World accounts? When PWE drops Cryptic and those players find themselves severed from STO, I predict that there will be a great wailing and gnashing of teeth. Put it on your calendar, you heard it here first. :-P

Okay, let me get off my podium. Realize that regardless of my delivery, my intent is to inform.

On a positive note, check out the ship images I posted in that thread.

So I ran Infected Space STF on elite, and I must have been with a bunch of rookies. It was a mess and took 40 mins to finish. After that, I got frustrated with the elite stfs and ran a couple of them on normal - much quicker and I kept my sanity. However, on all the STF's that I ran on normal this weekend, only on one did we acheive the optional objective - and the was Infected Space on normal. I've now picked up some gear to help me last longer (MK XI shields from the DS9 STF vendor, and a MK XI and MK XII antiproton Borg dual beam weapon). I'm now saving up my EDC's for the MK XI MACO gear.

What time/timezone do you run these? Thanks.

For RALH, I suggest sticking with the Captain-level Defiant or Defiant Refit, with a strong preference towards the refit for its console space. Those Rear Admiral escorts just aren't much of an improvement, and at least one of them has a slower turn rate. I usually just hang onto the Captain Defiant until I can buy a Vice Admiral Retrofit Defiant.

I just wish it had one more science console slot so I could keep the Cloak, Assimilated Module, and the Impulse Capacitance Cell. I need all my ENG and TAC slots for actual Engineering and Tactical consoles.

Well somebody posted a link a video of the Odessey bridge on the game forums, Sigh I really hope this is just a place holder otherwise all er're getting is a redressed star cruiser bridge.

I was running them between 4pm and 6pm EST, and then did two more between 9pm and 10pm EST.

I am not sure what to think of this. There is some very nice new geo that isn't found on any of the other bridges. But it is way to big to look good overall. And all added assets like consoles and chairs are clearly from the old bridge pack of the starcruiser.

So I hope this is a work in progress.
Geo is great with proper textures, colors and lighting.
What needs to be done is a down scaling, matching new assets and proper LCars like the ones we see on the Defiant Bridge in the Log In screen.

Being a freebie, it's most likely the finished version or close to, probably with a wholly new bridge being released via C-store.

The ship itself is quite cool, BO-setup wise. It can ape the BO slots of almost any Federation cruiser. It's also the only Fed cruiser that can give you access to 6 tactical powers at the same time (should you wish to sacrifice some tanking).

Really looking forward to when it's released.

Well I used my old PWE account. When I log in the first time it asked me to create like a pseudo Cryptic account name to use for Cryptic stuff--like if I wanted to sub or when I cashed-in the AlienWare promo.

I don't see why the couldn't just do the reverse.

Eventually all Cryptic accounts will become PWE accounts, as per Stormshade's posting over on the Champions Online forum.

Got my first Veteran tech drop from an elite STF tonight (shield, from Infected)! Not bad, maybe ran it 15-20 times? Got the MACO shield. Probably won't be lucky enough for another one for a while. Probably ran 40-50 regulars, only have 2 recruit level pieces between 2 toons...

Since I was being given a free ship, I went for the Prometheus class Advanced Escort. I don't know the actual stats of the ship, but the new ship seems to turn better and fly faster than the Defiant class.

On another related issue, I have been using solar system moons as names for my ships (Triton, Titania, Charon, Hyperion, Ganymede) and since Titan is a reserved ship name, I have officially run out of cool names to use for my ships. I would really appreciate any suggestions for the name of my final VA ship!

Have you used Dysnomia yet? It's the moon belonging to the dwarf planet Eris.

I was going to use Eris itself for my next ship. Current one is Ceres.

One thing I was wondering, can there be duplicate names? I know they sort of solved this with charter names by having the @(account) handle, but since there's just one server you'd think the good stuff would get used up quickly.

Different accounts can use the same name, so you and I could both have a ship called "Endeavour" for example. However I myself could not have two ships with that name, not unless I actually had a second separate Cryptic/PWE account.

Since my ships are combat escorts, I figured they should have more "combative" names. Call me biased, but the names Eris, Ceres and Phobos don't exactly convey the right feeling. Deimos sounds okay, but at the moment I am kinda fond of the name Hyperion and wish I could reuse it...

Well i just fired this up of late, and i must admit i am starting to enjoy it again, the space STF mission are a lot of fun......when i say fun i mean, normal STF are fun, elite it seems are full of loud twat's who do nothing but scream at people because are not doing what they scream over chat at them, or they are not using the weapons they seem to think they should be using in the elite ones .........so i steer clear of those and just stick to normal STF which seem to be filled with more easy going people.

Also having fun with the weapons this time round, on my cruiser i always had phasers all round, but this time i found that a nice mix of 2 heavy dual beam banks and two cannons fore, with 4 turrets at the back really packs quite a wallop.

I have to admit the game is coming along at last........also nice to see they already started the stipend.......got a nice surprise when i logged in stipend wise, soon have enough to buy the Dread crusier.

Man, I just played the Crystalline Entity mission for over an hour, and got nowhere. People kept ignoring the damned way to beat the thing. Eventually everyone gave up.

    I hate that mission.
