Any good Co-op games that aren't the multiplayer kind?

First off let me say I absolutely HATE playing games on line with other people. I do not like multiplayer online games.

That said, I do enjoy playing games with friends who come over to my house. I love hooking up an extra controller to my Xbox 360 or PS3 and playing with them.

The problem I am having is finding games that we can pay together that do not require us to go online or have an online account. We have played Borderlands 1 and 2 too death and are looking for other games we can play that don't require an online account.

Does anybody know any other games like this?

Earth Defense Force 2017 for the 360. It's like 3D Contra.

I wish I could reccommend the new Star Trek game, but so far it's just mediocre. I haven't tried coop yet though.

The Halo games allow for four-player co-op but not all on one console. The narrative also takes a hit as you're all playing as Master Chief.

The Left 4 Dead series pretty much needs co-op to be fun. Again, you'd need two consoles for four-player co-op.

That's not true for all of the Halo games, actually.

In Halo 3, player two would be the Arbiter, while players three and four would be Elites (who even have names!). In Halo: Reach, other players logged into profiles can customize their own character, rather than as player one clones. Customized SPARTANs can also be used in Halo 4's Spartan Ops co-op mode, though sadly additional players are indeed Chief clones in the campaign.
