Bought the Regent. Bought several, actually. Removed the torpedo launcher, dismissed it, rinse and repeat, equipped every ship in my fleet with one of them. Seems kinda silly on my VA Retrofit Defiant, but I'm getting some amusement out of it. Wish you could use that metreon gas console on other ships.

I got the regent, but am just using the skin and the torpedo launcher on the Mirror Star Cruiser since I perfer the BO power set up on it and its weird as hell having my chief engineer acting like a science officer during in space conversations. It sucks that I can't use the console on it though.

I ask about the TOS Enterprise, because I heard something about the TOS phasers getting stronger as you level up, and how it is possible to keep the Enterprise to the end.

Also, is the Enterprise customizable with its appearence and name like the others are?

It's not a "TOS Enterprise", it's a "TOS Constitution Class". You can give it any name you like. You can't change much about its appearance; it's not like the "free" starter Light Cruiser that has three different skins, it's a special thing.

Yes, the phasers level up; but the number of weapon mounts stays the same, and the hull stays the same, and the number and rank of console slots, etc. You won't want to use it past Lieutenant for anything except socializing.

The phasers levelling up is more useful for putting them on other ships until you can afford even-numbered replacements of the appropriate tier. They'll be stronger than the odd-numbered weapons in each tier, and weaker than the even; however, since they don't have any enhancements, odd-numbered ones might still be more attractive if they drop, since they could have one, two, or three enhancements depending on whether they're common/white (none), uncommon/green (one), rare/blue (two), or very rare/purple (three). Or at very high levels, ultra rare/dark purple (four).

So, let's say you get promoted to Lt. Commander, you don't have any Mark IV weapons yet, and you don't want to spend any money. You've just picked up your shiny new TMS Constitution or whatever (one of the Lt. Commander level Cruiser skins is the movie-era Constitution), and you don't want to stick with the generic Mark III common phasers they give you. You can sell two of the Mark III arrays and replace them with the TOS ones that level up, and they're effectively Mark III.5 weapons. You can keep doing that as you progress.

But, the TOS Constitution only has 2 forward and 1 aft weapons slots; a Lt. Commander cruiser has 2 forward and 2 aft. The TOS has 12,000 hull points; the Lt.C level cruiser has 19,500.

In the TOS Connie you'll only ever be able to seat three Bridge Officers, and they can only use Ensign-level powers. The Lt.C one has a second Engineering boff seat, that can do Lieutenant powers. Etc.

Eventually you'll be flying cruisers with 4 forward and 4 aft weapons, or slightly different for Escorts or Science ships, and five boff seats going all the way up to Commander powers. You will die if you try to do even the story missions at Vice Admiral level in a TOS Connie at the lowest difficulty, much less higher difficulties and tougher content like STFs. (The STO equivalent of five-man heroics in other MMOs).

There are a lot of ship collectors in STO so Cryptic gives every player many ship slots. So it is possible to "keep" the Constitution or any ship you own. For instance my character is a level 50 Rear Admiral who now commands a state-of-the-art Armitage class Heavy Escort Carrier, but he still have his Lieutenant grade starter ship even though the starter ship has not been taken out of spacedock in a long time.

For playing the game, you really should be using a ship comparable to your rank. So if you're a Captain, you should be commanding a Captain grade ship.

There are several versions of the Constitution class in STO. If you're looking for the original USS Enterprise NCC-1701, its the Lieutenant grade Constitution class. Lieutenant Commander version of the Constitution class corresponds to the movie version of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A. Cryptic also came up with its own version with a unique look which they call the Constitution Refit, and is also a Lieutenant Commander grade ship.

I generally depends on what you're going for.

My personal choices are the following (all space traits):-
Elusive - Increases your chance of evading weapon fire.
Accurate - Increases your accuracy. Helps Vs fast moving targets, such as other players.
    Techie - Increases hull heals.
Efficient - Increases power levels at lower settings.

I have an exchange question. It seems that since Starbase construction went in, that no one is buying samples or traces any longer. I have stuff on the Exchange priced well and nothing is selling.

What is everyone selling these days to earn your EC? Mineral Sample used to be a sure bet, but I have had some up for days and no takers. I have even adjusted the price twice due to falling prices.

Basically stuff that has a restricted or limited supply. On the low end, stock up on Romulan Ale and Dosi Rotgut because the Starbase Bartender unlocking project needs 250 of each.

Right now, I'm buying up stuff that came out from Tholian Lockboxes. Warfare specialists, Subspace Jumper console packs, Phased Tetryon packs, Orb Weavers, Recluse Carriers. When the Tholian lockbox is gone, prices on these stuff should rise.

Doff! Lots and lots of Doffs.

I sell between 60k and 2.5 million depending on what kind. All white.

I really wish I could move some of this STF loot to other toons so I could outfit them a little faster, or to share with friends/fleetmates:

I'm reluctant to just dump it all for dilithium in case I need it later, especially the purple stuff. The disproportionate rarity (at least for me) of purple engine tech is pretty astounding too. I do have a complete MACO XII space set already, so the lack of engine tech isn't bothering me (and even then, I use the borg engines).

Given how I've seen some people in zone chat and the STO forums complain about never getting purple drops I feel like I must be pretty fortunate in my loot bags, so I'm certainly not complaining about getting it, but outside of getting some more VA level ships on my main toon to gear out, I feel a bit like Smaug just guarding a stash of treasure because I have it.

I've been noticing a lot of low level ships in the fleet events this past week, like Oberths and Connies. I'm guessing they must be doing role play, because they can't be very effective in the swarms of enemy ships.

Honestly, it's not worth hording it. i doubt, what you have already collected will ever changed to unbound or bound per account.

I have some normal gear in my inventory which is bound to account, while another item of the same kind is still bound to character.

So, you have a small dilithium fortune there. use that. i havent calculaed exactly but that looks like more than 150,000 dilithium to me. ;)

Those lowlevel ships are probably low level characters of Lieutenant level. Everyone gets bumped up to VA for those fleet event missions, that's why you didn't notice a difference, I guess.

Which is close to 1,000 Zen, or $10 worth in the current Zen crash; more when the price goes back up, which it will.

As for equipping other ships; I personally never buy duplicate equipment. I'll keep equipment for differing loadouts (beams vs. cannons), but you can't fly two ships at once, and every place you can switch ships you can swap gear, so why have something sitting in a ship doing nothing? I use my ships as bank slots for alternate gear, nothing more, unless I'm flying that one.

Yeah, I don't have as many prototype techs sitting there (just a purple ground piece waiting for more before I choose which kind to get). Sitting on like 400 chips and 60-80 of the blue and purple salvage. Just don't need the dilithium at the moment, sold a ton for Zen a while ago, and hoping that if they ever release more STF sets like they promised, might be currency towards the new ones. Or can just dump it then.

And yes, have found that the pieces from the Cure missions (engine and weapon) are the drop I've seen the least of. Got the engines once, and have never gotten a cure ground drop blue OR purple.

    Thanks, guys!

Most of my dilithium from recent STFs has been getting traded in for Zen for random account and character upgrades (EC cap increase, more DOff slots, etc). I traded in all the blue tech and salvage and most of the EDCs, as well as all the purple tech except 1 each of the shield and deflector (which I'll use on the 2 respective parts of the Omega space set), and I kept all of the purple salvage, which I'll use for differing weapon loadouts.

I'm also in the habit of using my spare ships as an extra equipment bank. What I'm hoping to do is collect a good selection of end-game level ships that give a varied play style, so I can switch for variety now and then. Just not sure which ship I'll get next.

Yeah, have no idea what to do with them, and never use them, but DO have a variety of ships in spacedock. Use an escort with all Mk XII AP gear, and another escort with all the bound Mk XI AP stuff I was using along the way. Have a Gal-X with full Mk XII AP beams, got a mirror assault cruiser sitting with all the high-end phaser gear. And then the couple shuttles. And each one has one or another of the 3-piece sets I've collected along the way. Nothing to DO with them, but there's crap for bank space (even after buying the upgrade several times), so might as well stuff them with the bound stuff I paid for and can't sell back...

If they ever balance things enough where it makes sense to fly something OTHER than a tac escort, guess I can dust one of them off.

Generally once I get a full set of MACO and Omega Mk XII, I'ld trade in all the remaining Prototype Tech for dilithium. I also keep about 10-ish Prototype Borg Salvage around, "just in case" I need to outfit a new ship with good weapons.

This sounds just like the plan I've settled on.
