I've been guilty of doing the same thing on occasion.

I guess we'll just have to coax Vektor into starting a new Vanguard thread then!

Well, it may not seem like much considering how long it's been since my last update, but here's a little something to prove this project is still alive and kicking.

This is probably pretty close to final for the bussard collectors., though there are a few details yet to add along the remaining length of the nacelle.

Texturing is technically still temporary, though everything you see in these renderings was made specifically for this project. The rim around the bussard collectors is not modeled, it's a combination of bump and reflectivity maps applied with some fairly meticulous UV mapping. The same is true of the phaser strips.

Another thing worth mentioning is that the actual bussard collectors are semi-transparent lenses with a diffuse Arch & Design material applied that blurs some simple, coil-like geometry behind them. Intense spot lights are aimed at the internal geometry and set to include only those objects in illumination and shadow casting. The result is fairly realistic, if I do say so, and should show well when animated with a changing perspective.

More to come in the not-too-distant future, I hope.
