So are there any lines from ST that you actually use in an actual normal way at times in your life. I don't mean things where you say "Live long in prosper" in a way that you know that you're just quoting Spock, but more like an actual line that you've incorporated into your vocabulary.

I actually use Kruge's line "And now to show that my intentions are sincere." of some variation of it. It's usually in some situation where I have to tell someone at work, or one of my children, something that has to be done and I get the sense don't exactly understand that I'm serious about this.

So sometimes I'll say "And now to show my intentions are sincere...." then I'll state whatever consequence may result from failure to do the request in a timely and proper way.

So far the consequence hasn't been "I shall kill one of the prisoners." But you never know. There's a first time for everything.:)

Plus I love that line. It sounds like something you'd say while proposing, but Kruge manages to turn it into a harbinger of something terrible about to happen.

Sometimes I do tend to use Spock's immortal: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one." in appropriate situations.

I have had rare occasion to intone: "Revenge is a dish that is best served cold."

    The above two, for sure!

    "He/she/they/it task(s) me...and I shall have he/she/them/it!" All the time
    "If memory serves"
    "Fascinating"
    "'P'tak!"
"...Warp___" as an ending or verbal punctuation
"I am your Fath..." oops, sorry...wrong show!
"...and so do you." when it works into a conversation

Space Knows there are probably so many more!

I've never really found myself using Trek lines in real conversation. I think Trek is too optimistic for real life.

You're probably right. Perhaps that's why the line I use a lot was given by a villain right before he had someone killed in cold blood. Seems to fit best with how the world is.

Hello, Kor. Welcome to HIjol's Attitude Adjustment Cantina. Come, let me get you something.

Sorry to hear, Man. I respect your feelings, and I do not walk in your shoes, but life does have some optimism. And I do know my share of Crap Life! Hope I am not crossing a line. Just got a feeling.

"By all means." (Kirk to Ilia)

"What are friends for?" but I try to give it a dash of Shatnerian delvery, just a dash.

I use the word "illogical", and it's a natural word for me to use at times, but it's also nice, personal Star Trek reference.

Lines I've always wanted to use, but never had the opportunity:

    1) "WHY IS ANY OBJECT WE DON'T UNDERSTAND ALWAYS CALLED 'A THING'!!!"

    2) "AND THEY PROBABLY REDESIGNED THE WHOLE SICK BAY TOO!!!"

    3) THE LINE MUST DRAWN HE-AAA-RE! This far, NO FARTHER! And IIII will make them PAY for what they've done!

    4) How can you be deaf with ears like that?

and probably the one that I would've LOOOOVED to have used in school against a teacher who was telling me to be quiet:

    5) I'LL DISCUSS WHAT I LIKE. AND *WHO* IN THE HELL ARE YOU? HOW IN THE HELL DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?

    6) This man's sick take a look! ::CRACKLING UPPERCUT::

    7) You're in a position to demand nothing.

    8) A cocky, ultra-confident, smirking, "That's exactly what I mean."---Kirk in A Taste of Armageddon.

    9) "There's a little something I owe you...::POW!!!!:" Kirk punches Kang

    10) Walking up to an attractive woman and saying, "Kiss me." Kirk to Andrea.

    ^^ to EnriqueH

#1 Knew a person in the past that could have used that line on...mine!
#4 It would be so mean, but that would be a cool line to use in frustration! :bolian:
#7 Had some Bullies that would have been great to say to! (see #6 & 9)

When I did telemarketing, my test of the headset microphone every day was "Kirk to Enterprise", or just "Enterprise".

I would bet my first month's Intern salary that you have said or thought, "Warp Speed" when you were in a hurry!

While not real life, the way Crimson Tide used Star Trek lines was really relatable to this Trekkie right here (and helped contextualize the sailor's duty for his own confidence).

Anyway, in real life, when I'm waiting for a spot in a crowded parking lot to open up, and I see someone just sitting idly by in their car, not moving, I tend to resort to this:

While in heavy traffic and someone cuts me off:
    Lock Photon torpedoes and FIRE!
I've said it more times than I can count. One day, it will work.

    Oh, yes! Especially here!

But, using the Traffic Finger here in the UAE, or just about anywhere in the Arab World can get you an automatic fine and jail sentence of 3-6 months...True Story!

I'm sure I've used variants of this. Very apt!
