Having re-watched the 2 minute trailer (still procrastinating on that pile of marking in front of me), and having se…read the description of the 9 min. excerpt, I'm increasingly convinced (as others have pointed out) the "do for your family" line is aimed at Noel Clarke's character rather than the specific scene over which it is heard in the trailer.

As for Khan, I still don't see how Cumberbatch fits the character, but that screen cap above suggests Khan will at least be present "in spirit" this time around and perhaps "in the flesh" for the next film.

    Or it's Lazarus.

Without comment on whether or not Khan is in that picture or even the movie, I doubt this image is from the end of the movie. If the movie were ending with such a scene, it would be kept a bigger secret than the identity of Cumberbatch's character. It would not be in the trailer, not even in a vague out of context manner.

They showed us a scene from the fight between Kirk and Nero in the trailers of Star Trek 2009 which was right near the end of the film.

"Near the end" is very different from "the final scene."

They showed a clip from the final scene. The "buckle up" snippet with Kirk and McCoy. If the scene doesn't connect directly with the plot it would be a nice piece of misdirection to place it in the trailer.

But for me, the thing that has piqued my interest is Chekov in red. Wondering if something happens to Scott during the film that opens the door for Chekov to assume engineering duties?

Chekov was chief of security in TMP, my guess is they're setting him on that path.

Seems like the wrong path for a seventeen-year old technical whiz. Doesn't really match what we see from the character in the first film.

Well, that doesn't necessarily mean something will happen to Scotty. I'm sure engineering needs more than Scotty and Keenser.

Maybe he's the Tactical or Weapons officer. If he can work miracles with a transporter, imagine what he can to with targeting sensors.

Awesome trailer. And I noticed something that I don't think anyone has picked up on yet. At :45 sec, the shot where Spock is sitting on the bridge, presumably at red alert, look at his shoulders. Could those be.....SEATBELTS?! Finally!

Well, he has an engineering insignia when we see him wear that red shirt in the trailer.

Dr Ira Graves' did, IIRC. "TNG: The Measure of a Man".

And "The Emissary" episode of TNG. K'Ehleyr has to be there when they wake up to avert a war.
