I'm always willing to put a foot forward. In my head, the Caeliar always looked like this: Sorta. Or maybe not.
Heh. Actually, I always thought of White-Blue as looking a bit like the Tachikomas from the anime series Ghost in the Shell: http://www.robotsnob.com/pictures/tachikoma.jpg
If it doesn't, then why bother? I'd also love to see one of Lawrence Miles' conceptual entities show up on Titan, but you really can't "cast" that. (Ensign Shift, anyone?)
Looks like a cross between a salarian and a turian from Mass Effect. Leslie Wong Grace Park Bianca Wilder from Alien Spotlight Gorn: Gina Torres
^Right. I'm going back through Synthesis now trying to grab details. Spider-like, with a haphazard framework built from recycled parts. Head that can rotate, multiple eye lenses. Antennae I believe? And multicolored lights set inside a frame that's the size of a cargo drum, and "as much art as technology" in its design. Would you wanna do a sketch? I think you're the only one qualified to get it right.
Remember that White-Blue has multiple "outfits" throughout the story, though! The 'multicolored lights set inside a frame that's the size of a cargo drum' is just his core intelligence module. The first spider-body is built around that from recycled starship parts (but with a 'patchwork' rather than 'scrapyard' kind of look, I felt) and the second spider-body ("My droneframe has been upgraded") is a lot more smooth, kinda iMac styling. I imagined White-Blue - in fact, all of the Sentries - in a very anime mecha style, drawing influence from my favourite artists like Masamune Shirow, Kenichi Sonoda and Shoji Kawamori... I can't draw, that's why I write...
Ok, I don't remember how I pictured him in Synthesis, so by the time I read Seize the Fire (where I pictured him as a Monitor) I must have forgotten the description from Synthesis. I'm pretty sure I remember Seize the Fire describing him as floating around, using anti-grav technology, at some point, but I could be wrong. If I remember that correctly, maybe that was just one of his "outfits".
He can float around too, if he needs to. He'd have anti-gravs for moving around in microgravity environments, but its not his usual mode of locomotion...
Came across this today: some interesting food for thought re: casting ideas.... http://www.rabittooth.com/StarTrekPhotoManipulations.htm
