Ditto (love when Amazon "suggests" pairings.) When The Hubby asked why, exactly, I needed yet another SciFi series on DVD, I very reasonably explained that this will help motivate me to get my ass on the elliptical machine (conveniently situated in front of a TV with DVD player) and fulfill my New Year's resolution. Especially since I missed large portions of season 4. I'm very good at rationalizing.
Incredible deal. I bought 3 of the seasons for $70+ each (S2-4?), and the Starburst for the other Season (S1?) at 5 discs for $15+ a pop, plus the Peacekeeper Wars around $20 when it came out. I believe I had S1-4, before Peacekepper Wars came out. Though, I gotta admit, the expensive original edition sets, had boatloads of extras.
It might now, but in November 2009 when I got mine, it was offered exclusively by Best Buy as a way to drum up their business.
Don't forget that there are two different box sets. The old one and this one with the additional bonus material DVD and other changes.
Aren't we talking about the most recent A&E release? I was under the impression that the older two (Starburst and ADV) had been out of print for a while, and can't be found anywhere anymore.
The version I imported from the States last year (which at the time was still a far cheaper option than buying the UK individual season sets!), didn't have the PKW included. Just kept my Region 2 copy.
I confirm that the A&E set (which is the one that was on sale) does not have Peacekeeper Wars. Congrats to everyone who just ordered it. It's a great series.
Awesome price. If I didn't already own the series twice (I have the original ADV releases, which were like $30 for 4 episodes, and the current boxset which I ordered on Black Friday), I would snag it up again! Yes, The Peacekeeper Wars is sold separately, but I often see it on sale for $8.99 on amazon.
I'm still happy with the $66 I paid for it. I mean not only did I get the series, but it came with the Miniseries too, and that's an extra, what, $14 if sold separately. I still consider it one of the best purchases I made in 2009.
Heck, I'd say anything under $80-90 is an excellent deal. Most TV shows sell for $30-40 per season. $50 for four whole seasons (plus an extra $8-10 for the miniseries finale) is a steal.
I'll get mine within the next several hours. It's "Out for Delivery" and should get here within 12 hours!
I got this yesterday, sat down and watched the premiere last evening. The show's very nearly perfect in its way, with very little concession to the usual marketing concerns of "how do we get people to watch this?" It's hard to imagine it ever being wildly popular, because it asks a lot of the viewer. This and "Buffy" are the only skiffy TV series that I've really just flat-out loved on their own terms since the original Star Trek.
