I first saw him as a space hippy. So him playing cops and rednecks are what seems odd to me. I'm sure casting directors in 1968 had a different view of "hippies" than people today. They probably saw the real deal in the Hollywood of the late sixties.
Sure what? That "Way to Eden" was my first encounter with Napier? Trust me, I'm 56 years old. I don't think I had seen him in anything prior to Star Trek.
I liked it until the end credits of STID, when Giacchino hammered it into the ground. How about the Star Blazers theme? [yt]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0H5xz8alVfo[/yt]
Oh no, it's not sacrilegious at all, I can't stand that one either. The vocalizing....dear god the vocalizing....make it stop...
I do not mind the theme song I just very much dislike the season three and four version of it..sounds like a bad country mix and does not really fit with some of the darker themes of those seasons.
It feels like sixties instrumental lounge music.... which happens to be one of my favourite types of music. So yes, I like the TOS theme. It's inextricably linked to the show. Kor
I respect that you like theme! . The instrumental theme is okay to me...it's the addition of the vocals (if you can call it that? It sounds like shrieking to me...) that just grate on my nerves.
You do realize the lyrics were never actually used, nor intended to ever be used, on the series, right? Kor
The themesong for -ENTERPRISE- isn't brilliant, by any means, but it suffices. I mean, it's not a song I'd ever listen to on its own ... why would you? But ... for a TV show, it's on par and very comfortable with pretty much everything else that's out there.
They should've had Brent Spiner singing the theme for -ENTERPRISE- and I think it would've ended up becoming much more celebrated, in the end.
ST:ENT was and continues to be my favorite of the series, although I know I'm in the minority opinion with respect to the membership of trekbbs (present company excluded I'm sure). I've given some thought as to why this series is so special to me and have decided it's at least partly because of the time it was produced. I had just purchased my first house and moved in with my wife of 9 years (at the time). In a nearly empty living room with only a TV and a card table (we were waiting for furniture to arrive) we watched Broken Bow. The theme song spoke to us and we identified with it. My wife was never a Star Trek fan, but to this day she loves that song - as do I, and maybe for all these reasons and more I love ST:ENT. (excerpt from a previous post, but seemed appropriate here).
