Why? Either way, this is the end of this version of the character on screen.

    It's just a no-no.
He's an immortal character of pop fiction that hasn't died on screen cause he's a symbol of the fight you wish you could fight. To attain the justice you feel at times might be otherwise denied. To kill him would be to say that justice fails. That hope isn't worth having.

Even the on screen Superman Returns death was a fake out.
    You don't kill James Bond.
    You don't kill Batman.

Thats basically it. This isn't an Elseworlds story and it's never been pitched as one. I will be really annoyed if they kill off Batman.

Elseworlds means not within the continuity of the main comic titles. This is not within the continuity of the main comic titles.

Frankly, I'm almost rooting for them to kill off Batman. It would be an incredibly ballsy move, that would be remembered for a long time. Also, if certain speculation is to be believed:
and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character does indeed take over the cowl at the end
then it plays perfectly to the theme of Batman being more than a man, but an ideal and a legend. It would be a perfect way to end this trilogy.

The next Batman movie is going to be a reboot anyways. No matter what, Batman will be alive and well and played by a different actor with a different crew behind it. It will not follow the continuity established in the Nolan trilogy. So, by all means: Kill Bruce Wayne.

So, basically the ending to the 'V for Vendetta' graphic novel.
I think I could live with that, actually.

If they do it i'm going to resent it. That's all there is to it.

I miss really good, well crafted almost artistic posters for movies. This one? Just seems boring and generic, something anyone could whip-up in Photoshop inside of an hour.

Not every movie poster has to be Drew Struzan in originality, quality and art but it really seems like movies don't even try anymore to make a movie poster "artistic" anymore.

Anne Hathaway still makes me cringe every time I hear her speak of dialogue

The costume makes me cringe. How people can take the character seriously while he's wearing a hat suit in which he can't even turn his head baffles me, frankly. The Dark Knight, for me, was corny as hell.

^Do you mean the Batman costume? Wasn't the whole point of the costume change in The Dark Knight that he now can turn his head?

While I have nothing against the idea of killing Batman, but...
I don't think he will simply be "replaced" by another character. They spent the whole first film showing what Bruce had to do to become Batman, wouldn't it diminish that if they can just throw in another character who hasn't done the same and let him take over?

Yet another good observation for why not to it.
Better yet is that it's a reason against that is tied to the story of what it means to become Batman. Even if you have training not everyone is cut out to be Batman. Jean Paul Valley anyone? And I like Azrael.

Here is my theory. Batman will appear to have "died" at the end of the movie so Bruce Wayne can get back to a normal life.
