Well it should. Nova Scotia is only steps away and pretty much the same kind of countryside.

Aren't all shows on SyFy shows filmed in Canada? I kinda liked it, will check it out again next week.

It would take a team of ninjas and a dozen naked Hooter girls to make this show exciting.

Saw the first episode and it didn't grab me. It was however nice to see Nova Scotia as opposed to Vancouver where I thought it was going to be shot. It was also nice to see Nicole De Boer, Maurice Dean Wint and Eric Balfour. Emily Rose without pants wasn't bad either.

If they were going to shoot it in Vancouver, they'd just pretend it was Seattle again. :rommie:

OMG is it Friday again? :D Okay, I'm willing to give this sucker another shot, but they really need to amp the scare factor and give me a reason to keep watching.

If anyone is curious about the ratings, they're decent: 2.34M, 0.7/2.

Which is about on par with the lead-in, Eureka: 2.52M, 0.8/3. If Haven can hang onto most of those viewers, it should have a future.

If there was more than just Futurama worth watching this summer, I'd be a lot less tolerant of giving shows a second, third, fourth, etc chance. :rommie: Desperation plays havoc with standards.

    There was some nice banter.

Eric just has me thinking "TOESUCKER" and I can't take him seriously.

Mary Knows Best is softening my critical stance against this show.

Okay, I'm split about this one. For about 95% of the show, this had to be one of the most stupid episodes of television I've ever seen -- and I watched like 20 of the 22 Painkiller Jane episodes! But there was genuine payoff to the whole thing, even if that payoff didn't require everything stupid that came before it. I guess we sort of have our mythology to the show now.

Not too bad. Even though I don't care for Stephen King.

Wow, this was even more boring and predictable than the pilot. Seriously, did anyone not figure the kid was behind it all? This show is written in far too derivative a manner to deliver any actual surprises, and the tone is way too mild and after-school-special-y.

    Next week,
the inmates take over the asylum.
If they can't make that scary, I give up.
This show has about as much to do with Stephen King as the Telletubbies.

There's a method to skiffy's madness: bad scripted shows combined with mind-bendingly idiotic "reality" shows that will make their scripted shows look good by comparison. ;)

The rolling ball effect at the beginning when it was close up with the butterfly was absolutely awful.

Also, supposedly the episodes are out of order and this is the third episode.

    Anyone still watching this show?

Waffling. I love Stephen King. Not sure about this adaptation. But I haven't listened to the audio book so I'm not sure if the lack of compelling storytelling is his fault or theirs.

I'll watch tonight. If they can't draw some chills out of this episode's setting, then the show must be declared hopeless.

^ The ad was misleading. The inmates were running the asylum for about two minutes at the beginning of the show.

I may be done with this show. Emily Rose is cool and the location is different, but the writing is pretty horrible.

Argh. Maybe I should just delete it off the DVR now. :rommie:

Why won't bad shows realize that they're never not going to be bad, so at least they should be insane/gory/sexy/scary/crazy to the degree that basic cable allows? Good writing is hard, but anyone can figure out how amp the sensationalistic aspects - there's really no excuse for boredom.
