I have only seen that beaten once, somebody did something and got all the shards to follow their ship, which they then took away across the map with all the shards following behind, then that left everybody to kill the main bit.

In my experience the guys who act like that are the wannabes, the ones who think they're l33t but really aren't. Ironically, the guys who really are the elite, seem to be genuinely great people. I've was privileged enough to get the chance to do a few warzones with some of the top ranked PvPers in the world on SWTOR back during early access. I said flat out that I was a PvP n00b and they didn't care. We totally facerolled and I was an epic leech. But they were all really cool about it and gave me lots of tips and advice along the way.

And from what little experience I've had with members from top raiding guilds from other MMOs, they seem to be pretty much the same way. It's like they have nothing left to prove so they can just chillax and share their knowledge.

But those wannabes are the exact opposite. They think that because they have accomplished a few things end-game that they know everything there is to know and that they deserve a certain degree of entitlement. If they don't get it, they spit on whoever got in their way.

When I first tried out the game as a Federation player character I was with a group that managed to beat the mission in about an hour. But I've never gotten close with my (primary) Klingon character.

I recommend not even trying unless you're going in with your fleetmates. It takes cooperation to beat.

Yup, I was once what players would call a hardcore elite back in EQ, my guild was one of a handful who broke into the Plane of Time-B in 6 months after it was released. I can tell you that just about all the top guilds were really friendly with everyone (okay, except for a few infamous ones like FoH). In general, we were on friendly terms with each other and routinely shared good natured ribbing, advice and tips. We frequently ran lower-tier raids for new players, gave them advice on what to do as well as all the raid boss drops. Despite this, I still constantly meet players who automatically assumes elite players are a bunch of cocky chaps.

Could follow tradition and re-use the names. Plenty of room to add letters at the end. Pretty much all mine are re-used per character. One name per ship class, and then each time I get a new one (i.e. new escort), I rev the letter by one...

There are good and bad people in any game. When I play a game it's for fun and relaxation. If someone in the game tries to take that away from me, I try to resolve it swiftly. If someone on my team is acting like an ass, I tell them to straighten up and if they don't they are kicked from the team and given an ignore. If I'm not able to kick them from the team, I ignore them, then leave the team myself and find another instance. As I'm frequently teamed with someone because they're seeking the engineering accolades, that leaves them grinding their teeth.

The best thing is to find a good fleet. My characters have had their share of bad fleets but I'm in some good ones now. The TrekBBS Armada is good but needs to grow some (and get Vent). The 47th Special Ops is a bunch of good ole boys. They are good for advice on ship builds and pvp plus keep a good bank. The Klingon Defense Fleet is also a helpful fleet with a good bank.

Same here. I've tried it about 8 times, and I have never beaten it. I got close once when I was in a team that included a dev during the CE daily event. We got it down to about 20%, and just couldn't get beyond that point. After almost an hour (or so it seemed), people just started giving up and leaving.

I have yet to complete it.
If we can get enough people for a private instance we can make a fleet event out if this.
No sophisticated strategies, just pure force.
Bring a pure AoE build (escort with two copies of scatter volley and torp spreads) and we just kill it once and for all.
    Don't orbit it.
Just get into a distance if around 7-8km, keep the CE targeted and fire away.
Go into reverse to keep the distance constant.
Any shards that spawn will fly directly into our phaser blanket of death while we keep constant DPS on the Entity.
No big fragment should even break up into small ones this way, and if they do after all they will die in the crossfire very quickly.
5 Escorts or Galaxy X should be enough.
    Don't go for fancy gear.
Use white cannons, and kinetic resists for armor just in case.

I've had it with that thing. Time for subtlety is over.

This should work so well, that we can run it several times to get the first place accolade for every team member.

Eris was the goddess of strife and discord. Phobos was the god of horror. Fantastic names for warships.

Deimos is the best, though; the god of the terror specifically of war.

Good info. This one isn't a moon but a demigod that I liked from AD&D: Loviatar, Maiden of Pain

Any suggestions for my Jasmine's (KDF sci) Vo'quv carrier? I was thinking Chartreuse Lady, Chartreuse Storm or something along that line. Tetryon weapons with Orion Raiders and/or Energy Siphons. Thanks.

I'm with a fleet, but mostly so I can deposit/withdraw from the fleet bank.

Maybe I should join the TrekBBS fleet?

LOL. On the origin of Wolverine, when he extended his titanium claws Sabertooth said "Ooh, shiny...". I meant that "Ooh shiny".

If anyone in the fleet needs equipment or boffs for a Lt or Lcdr, just ask. Save your money for something better.

I have Doc Lee in TrekBBS and my daughter has two of her characters there also. I didn't put all my characters there as they have been in their fleets long enough to acheive some status and don't want to give that up. Plus being in more fleets gives me access to more information and ideas.

I've been using TrekBBS as a source of information for a few years but didn't join until last spring. After that, joining the fleet seemed like the logical thing to do. \\//

Well, reaction to the pack are more amused so far it seems...
that gear is not gamebreaking, no. But it`s a ripoff, since 30 minute playtime after the tutorial nets you the same stuff..
If it makes Cryptic happy to sell that stuff, let them. Im certain there are people out there stupid enough to go for it...

It will get interestng when they start selling ENDGAME gear like this because this was so successful.
