Here's a really rough-draft mission patch for the Pacific.
I wanted something that wasn't too complicated, and not simply "cool" or modern, but something that also fits into the design lineage leading up to TOS, where shapes and colors are becoming more simple.

Top notch classy as usual... are those silver half-rings functional?

They're not functional in the sense that they don't have a function, haha.
But they COULD be functional. I'm thinking that crew members might clip small pieces of equipment there in certain situations. Like a communicator or a light or something when they find themselves in tight places on the ship.

It's kind of a medium-heavy cotton fabric.
Though the material might change from the prototype to the final design.

Re: PACIFIC 201 - A Star Trek Film

As it adapted from an existing piece of clothing?

I considered modifying existing clothing, but this is made from a pattern.

A new concept prop for the communicator. Thoughts?

I liked the shape and size of the outside on the last one better and the inside of this one better. So if you put the insides of this one, into the last one I think you would have a winner. Thats just my opinion.

I prefer this one. The other one looks too much like a 2004 flip phone. It takes you a second to realize this is a camera. You'll need to hide the viewfinder better, tho, and what about the flip side?

I like the D-rings I would also add one at the waist level

Yeah, I'm planning on filling in the viewfinder somehow. And the reverse side is a bit of a problem, but I'm probably going to add a belt clip there, which will cover up most of the camera-ish details.

Great minds think alike, haha ;D
I was thinking of adding matching d-rings on either side of the waist as well. But we'll see. They might end up looking a little distracting.
